When they met up with LTT, LTT said to them they need to price it similarly to consoles, and they all acted shocked. Valve plans to drop this thing at $900 plus and it will completely fucking flop. They have already stated that they will not use the store to subsidise it, and when you combine its worse than PS5 hardware with the current DRAM situation, I won't be shocked if this thing is $1000+. The Steam Deck filled a niche. This product is entering a saturated market.They are making exactly the same mistakes they made in 2013, overpriced hardware with questionable software support, hoping to rely on brand loyalty and gimmicks. Valve still hasn't learned that if they want to compete in big boy land against consoles, OEMs/SIs and Microsoft, they need to stop treating their products as experiments and start building something affordable with mass appeal. They managed this with the Steam Deck to some extent, but seem to have now forgotten all the lessons they could have learned from it.Valve also seem to not understand that the world is in a shadow recession, people don't have as much money to spend on luxuries, and especially not overpriced luxuries with substandard specifications. They know goddamn well no one wants to pay $900 for a box which is why they're shilling it even softer than the other "gamebox" maker from over 20 years ago. The "gamebox" is just a selling point to sell games, to get other developers to join in the development of more hardware and software. To bait the last remnants of console plebs to steam where they have the feeling of security that it's run by a company that isn't globohomo and will actually let you mod shit without self destruct bricking.
