For a supposed technology enthusiast he sure does love shitting on new technology.

We really need to differentiate between actual enthusiasts (pro-AI) and merely consumers that love new trinkets (anti-AI)

People just shit on AI because it makes their new electronic toy more expensive and because they clearly are afraid of their job prospects. It's pathetic that they make up "AI can't do anything" talking points while clearly just upset their white collar bullshit email job is disappearing.

AI LLMs is making the world worse, simple.
That's why the only people genuinely excited about what is happening are Indians and other third-worlders, and FOMO-ing high level executives.

After several years and one of the biggest investments in history, we have a financial bubble and little else:
>productivity gains are miniature with practically negative Return On Investment
>LLMs companies are working at a loss
>already clues that using AI worsens cognitive abilities
>destroys training methods for the next generation
>corporate projects to implement AI for important processes instead of humans keep failing

We are in the death throes of the personal computer. Everything is about to be cloud based including gaming. The problem is that's bad for tech youtuber channels.
>>
>>107824075
I think it's only not great for the tech YouTube channel who built up on the foundation of "gaming". Back then, NVIDIA and AMD used video games to show off the power of what they could do in their semiconductor and transistor shrinking races. It was never really about the video games themselves, but more that they were used to visually show progress in Moore's Law in an easy to understand way. For years now though, even gamers have been wondering what the point of more GPU and CPU power is supposed to accomplish for them. Traditional ways of building the cards started just giving maybe 5 extra FPS from the previous generation cards and almost no visual differences than a couple of extra particle effects. So now that NVIDIA and AMD have found a way to move from being the companies "just for gamers" and broadened out by basically becoming suppliers for healthcare, auto, enterprise, creative industries and many others, we have a problem. It just so happened that AI ended up being that catalyst, but if it were anything else, you'd still see channels like GN get upset about it. One of the last showcases gamers had is on its way out. Not to say there won't be focus on games every again since NVIDIA just showed off DLSS 4.5 and being able to run games is still a feature to buy a device for. It's just that Moore's Law has reached its peak in making a meaningful difference for things like video games so it will become more and more of an "oh, by the way, you can also play [x] on this device!" rather than the games being front and center. The signs were there for years.

This is just what I think though.
>>
>>107823487
of course they are bots, this damage control rhetoric was rolled out in a single day on every single board. they cant even be subtle with it.

>>107822380
AIs aren't AI. They're an attempt at automating human interaction. In a world where human interaction is already strangled and humans are socially inept to the point where most of them think they're autistic due to their lack of interaction. It can only make everything worse, as what the world needs is for people to interact more, not less.
>>

The new old trend is blaming AI for the preexisting problems they had all along but were able to conceal. AI exposes them for the frauds they are (fake artists, fake musicians, fake intellectuals, etc) and they don't like it.

They make up stories about how AI is sucking up fresh water or burdening the electrical grid... but ignoring the fact that the both "problems" are entirely made-up and without any basis in reality. Plenty of water and electrical capacity is far from exceeded.
>>
Nvidia still announced the best most relevant to gamers stuff thought

DLSS 4.5 is a hit, major improvements at the high end and low end
PULSAR monitors are a fucking godsend IPS is unironically saved
The modding in RTX Remix Logic is incredible
As for the AI stuff nobody is even close, they have everything available, hardware, models, networking, applications, devkits, almost all of it is free too

Intel had a decent CES but it was all mobile stuff, but if they had a handheld to show off they would have won easily, I was hoping for a panther lake MSI claw, the lunar lake MSI claw was an underrated beast

AMD had fucking nothing. A doublewide massive GPU rack and servers full of cables, they must take hours to put together unlike Nvidia's that take 5 minutes to assemble. Nothing in regards to gaming. Literally bringing out glowies on stage of their keynote. 9850X3D, 2% gains, totally useless.

The good news is there's NO way that argument will stand the test of time and it's absolutely something that every new technology would've gone through.

For example I'm pretty sure everyone using their air conditioners is more destructive, how about you stop being a little bitch and turn off your air conditioner? No? Well ok, the only difference is time has passed since the tech was invented.

I mean I do use AI, but its usefulness is extremely limited. I only need its help with something if it's particularly tricky, but if it's something tricky then the odds of it lying to me are extremely high (because its training data doesn't contain enough information about the topic, most likely). This severely limits its usefulness because I have to double-check everything, so at most it's kind of like a search engine that's slightly more useful.

Nah, not really. There really isn't anything new in the current ML world from a mathematics perspective. The same exact scaling problems that doomed multi-layer perceptrons in the 80s will doom these systems now that they've effectively sucked the internet dry in terms of training data. The main advances we made which enabled "the deep learning revolution" were on the hardware side, and that has been grinding to a halt recently.

Get over it. You're not doing anything with your card that you NEED an overpriced meme.

you forgot to mention the MIT report that states the vast majority of AI implementations by companies were a bust my man

I wonder how much of your numbers are voluntary vs forced use by the companies.

consumer AI PCs arent selling. wow who would thought consumers are rejecting this amazing tech!!

I like GN, they called out Linus on his bullshit. But his videos are becoming unwatchable with all the memery. And Steve is giving vibes that he over-extended on that noise chamber and new facility.
>>
>>107822380
Steve lost all credibility when he blamed the 4090 card power cords melting on "user error". Because of that, the design was never changed and now the 5090s are burning up. The dude shits on products and people for clicks, that's his only "talent". I can't image how much money PC users have lost because of Steve and GN.

The thing with that MIT study is that top-down AI initiatives/tools suck because executives are unfamiliar with employees' actual workflows. But employees are still using LLMs and implementing them independently. Both can be true

he's just noticed that these formulaic ai ragebait videos get way more views than his other videos
go look at his channel, the non ai videos have significantly less views

all of these youtube-as-a-job guys are cut from the same cloth. they're just trying to fiure out what gets the most views and then repeatedly beat it like a dead horse until everyone's tired of hearing about it. gamers nexus is definitely better than the others, but they're all still on the same side of the coin

All Steve does now is rage post against non Chinese corporations. Getting kinda suspicious.

>Raytracing
One of the worst memes in computer graphics. Looks like shit 90% of the time and just saves developer time. Games looked better before raytracing.
>DLSS
What kind of lobotomise genuinely likes this? You know the meme that eye can only see at 24 fps, it’s not really true but still the reason gamers like fps higher then 30 is not because it just looks better, but because you get better input, which is not happening when the game actually runs at 10 fps and only your screen is showing 120 fps.
>AI
Rising electricity prices, rising hardware prices, rising unemployment from automating jobs, destruction of education and homework, destruction of digital evidence, and all of that just so we can have even more slop flood the internet, even more digital garbage but now being posted automatically by a bot with no human involvement. Technology in our modern society always gets benefit of the doubt for the first few years it’s out because we don’t fully understand it’s potential use, AI lost that benefit by now by not improving anything outside of niche research uses in live sciences.

What will actually happen is that any game developer who wishes to survive will have to make games that run on computers that their customers actually have or else they will go bankrupt.

What, gonna lose another war again, Johnny reb? I look forward to the data center in your neighborhood screeching 24/7.

>AI BAD BECAUSE... I CAN'T PLAY GAMES OKAY?

We're literally on the brink of the singularity where we will be flying spaceships through space and living forever in AI powered VR and fat, hairy luddites are worried about their mediocre shooting games

and if nobody can afford new gaming computers then devs will stop making games for personal computers.

game publishers love the idea of cloud streamed games because it stops piracy and they can "end of service" old games so they don't compete with new releases. They've already killed used video games. plus constant subscription dollars instead of having to make games that are actually good.

if phones and non-gaming laptops survive (but probably triple in price) then mobile gacha and cloud streamed gaming has some chance to survive. Game console companies don't seem to be very enthused with Xbox throwing in the towel and Nintendo happy with an incremental upgrade to the Switch. PS6 is on hold.

Datacenters are consumers.
Don't be mad because you're not economically relevant anymore

And this is a bad thing?
>game publishers love the idea of cloud streamed games because it stops piracy and they can "end of service" old games so they don't compete with new releases.
lol
in reality game publishers will become AI middleware devs and exit the gaming space as they should have years ago

This is literally win/win for everyone except luddites crying because they can't play Gun Madden 2026.

Just 100 billion more dollars and more forced AI integration into shit everyone is forced to use, and it'll turn a profit sister.
