Ubuntu sucks donkey dick when it comes to gaming and just in general. Stupid fucking Snaps and I have to give Steam access to everything because Snap Steam blocks everything by default. Games freeze, games crash and games don't start (works on Mint btw). The thing is, I like the look and feel of Ubuntu. It's home, a toxic home that looks fine for the first week then it fucks me in the ass. Last time I encountered a sudden directx12 and 11 error code on all my games and just moved to mint (works there). But... I miss Ubuntu. But fuck Ubuntu desu
>>107823099Explain the whole "pro" thing to me. I have a vm with Ubuntu that I sometimes use, but rarely. Went to update it the other day and it sounds like you have to pay to get security updates now?
>>107823625I think its for LTS only and it's free to sign up for but optional
>>107823625If you want more than 5 years of security updates without updooting you have to pay.
>>107823099>Ubuntu fucks me in the ass and I keep comingthat do be how it goes
>snapsnot related to ubuntu>steamnot related to ubuntu>gamesnot related to ubuntudo you even know what ubuntu is?
>>>107823099 (OP)> I like the look and feel of Ubuntu. If you copy relevant config settings from Ubuntu, you can have that on most distros with GN*ME.
>>107823099nigger you just like gnomeyou can shove gnome onto everything
>>107823099Just use Debian. Everything works as it should and it ships gnome default.>>107825236
>>107825319>d*bianop specifically mentioned vidyawhy would you want this designer abandonware for that use case
>>107825333My bad, I don't game and ignore the needs of gamers when I recommend. OP can use Debian when he grows up then idk.
>>107825490nigga you need to grow up and stop being scared of archit's literally been solved with limine and btrfs snapshots
>>107825521My entire home lab is Debian. I've used arch and respect it but have no use case. Arch is probably the best choice for OP though.
>>107823099>The thing is, I like the look and feel of Ubuntu.it's literally just GNOME and 2 or 3 exceptions. you can replicate that on debian or whatever other distro easily.>>107823625you have to pay if you dont want to upgrade for a decade and still want receive security updates. it's what RHEL does too.

>>107825333>>107825490>>107825521>>107825570Debian with Testing or Sid repos works just fine for Steam/gaming.
>>107823625you have free updates for next 10 years or so for a home user, I have key tied to my account and never paid shit, it's just optional feature and I can't tell why they made it since people move to the newer version for the QOL improvements
