Closest is cinnamon or KDE but nemo is a stain on cinnamon and is literally unusable. KDE is literally broken you cant even change the window decoration without it lagging when you maximimize because it doesnt support qml shit only c++ decorations made with qt toolkit. Heres proof of KDE being broken with window decorations. Its laggy and broken.

So essentially you cannot customize KDE because its broken. A system integral part of the DE baked in, That you CANNOT remove because the online decorations are baked into the DE that they expect new users to use and customize with is just completely broken, and its been like this for 5+ years. Personally I've given up on file managers because Linux gives you the choice between
- fast and efficient with good keybindings, but console-based and therefore lacks proper desktop integration via drag'n'drop etc. (nnn, ranger, midnight commander, dired)

Honestly kubuntu and ubuntu are not bad.

Kubuntu has snaps but they arent installed by default in discover at least in the normal install of kubuntu and you can easily just use flathub with one click.

Dont know about xubuntu or the other flavors but even so the ubuntu app store on the official ubuntu flavor is not that bad. It loads quite quickly and the app store is fast compared to guhnome shit software store.

Snaps arent that bad firefox loads reasonably well on ubuntu 25.10 basically like a flatpak.

Worst distro is probably fedora or arch I dont even think they have an option for nvidia drivers and the codecs are hard to install and shouldnt even be a thing to begin with.

I've been happy with Fedora KDE for the past few months since ditching windows 10. Feels intuitive enough to find my way around as a former windows user and most of my shit just werks. Some minor quirks here and there but windows was worse.
Setting up the rpm fusion third party repo to get codecs and shit was really a total non-issue so people complaining about that are really grasping at straws.

Just move your taskbar icons (which should be at the bottom if you're straight) to the middle using spacers (like God intended), remove any icons you dont need from the far right, add a nice wallpaper, maybe turn on some transparency effects and you're all good.
