I know that it's costing one smaller company tens of millions of dollars, and I can extrapolate from that, that it's costing the industry billions. It's a huge problem and these companies don't know what to do. For every legitimate user free access brings in, there's ten users abusing it. Some companies are beginning to close out trial periods but their new users are falling off a cliff. They're fucked either way.
