>>107832870It's unrelated. Steam-run is named so because it's using steam nixpkg's code related to custom FHS environment created by steam to launch non-patched binaries in NixOS. This environment is universal, obviously. You can even add new dependencies to steam-run, if some of your binaries is using packages not installed and used by steam-run-free nixpkg by default. But it's not so comfy to use as nix-ld, because it will either have steam related options in your configuration.nix (steam-run-free don't need the installation of Steam, in opposite to steam-run which does), or nix specific code to override the list of needed packages for steam-run-free nixpkg.Either way, I prefer to use steam-run-free and static linked libraries for binaries, just because I don't want to have FHS globally available in my system. Though I guess a better way to lunch binaries, in my case, would be nix-ld with nix-alien-ld for local nix shell environment for every binary not patched for NixOS.Anyway, use steam-run-free nigger and shut up
