If you want a tablet and also want to draw, should you get an iPad or a Samsung tablet?
>>
>>107828973
For Tablets always go for ipad. Android make sense only on dirt cheap devices. There is almost no software for tablets on Android.
>>
>>107828973
Could you explain me why would you use tablet for painting in the age of AI slop disgrace?

Just buy charcoal, or good pencil and use regular paper.
>>
>>107829039
no shame but some want to be seen doing something
like in a coffee shop
out there
>>
>>107828973
wacom or huawei.
if you want an ipad for procreate app you should consider the one with paper like screen.
it is just like huawei but much much more expensive..

>There is almost no software for tablets on Android.

The current industry standard for digital art is Clip Studio Paint, it runs on Android and it's the only software you're ever going to need.

Samsung Plus and Ultra tablets are perfectly fine for it. I used an S7+ for years, did commission work on it and even sprites for a VN, it's too small for comfort but it's fast and very responsive.

I would recommend a Samsung Ultra tablet just because it's bigger. And make sure to get a bluetooth keyboard, you'll need the hotkeys. With that setup you basically don't need a computer.

Yeah, you can DRAW whenever. I still prefer procreate but whatever. The problem is everything else. Ipads have a lot more apps. And it's still not enough to replace a laptop. Android has some manga readers, a browser and some stretch out twitter client.
>>
Ask yourself if you need the portability first. I bought myself an ipad and ended up selling it since I realized working while out in public was more annoying than anything else. The size of the ipad makes it uncomfortable for anything but sketching and note taking too unless you go with the 13 inch pro. Procreate is okay but it's definitely a love it or hate it UI. The brush monetization is also kind of obnoxious.

I'll echo what the other anon said and suggest you get the biggest wacom-powered device you can find. The ultra is a a good option, but I'd also recommend the Movink 14. It lets you use the actual wacom pro pen which I would personally rate higher over the s-pen implementation by samsung. I think the price is about the same as well.

iPad has the most support in that field by far. I work in marketing and it's pretty much the essential. Look into one of those paper-feel screen protectors too, they really do help.
>>
>>107829720
Not sure how the Pro pencil is, but it claims a similar life to the recent USB-C standard one and you can easily get at least 6 hours on that thing. Charging is also fast as shit so even putting it on charge for 5 minutes can buy a few hours.
>>
>>107828973
Get any tablet with vanilla android, 4 gigs of memory, sd slot and just plug a tablet in through USBC with a Bluetooth keyboard for shortcuts.
Krita is free
CSP costs like 10 bucks a year
Get it done.
>>
>>107828973
>should you get an iPad or a Samsung tablet?
Surface Pro (Intel). It's an x86 computer running Windows. You don't need to use some cut down app or follow some retarded workflow to get files off the device. The pen has the exact same specs as the Apple Pencil.
>>
>>107829777
>USB-C standard one
this shit doesn't even have pressure sensitivity. it's useless.
>>
>>107829751
>paper-feel screen protector
I got one of those but my knock-off Apple pencil became really inaccurate when drawing on it. Dunno if the real pencil works.
>>
>>107829825
I know, but it's my only reference point really as I do basic architectural plans in a proprietary app that doesn't support that stuff. I've heard from others in the marketing side that the Pro has pretty much the same life as the USB C.

>>107829838
The real pencil is a lot better, knock offs are pretty shit. A lot of people use those paper protectors and swear by them.
>>
>>107828973
Just use AI, it'll make whatever you want way better than you can "draw" it, faggot. AI is better than you could ever hope to be.

i read this thread and decided not to buy it. it's a bad product.

Something to keep in mind is when it comes to forums, especially tech forums, most people use it for troubleshooting and complaining. People with negative experiences are always the loudest of people with positive ones.

My experience from others IRL with it has all been positive and that contradicts that forum post, so you'll just have to weight up whether you do want it or not based only on the things listed merits.
>>
>>107829911
My experience has been that tranny "artists" will seethe for years as AI replaces them and that alone makes my cock throb
>>
>>107829946
Based. For what it's worth, there aren't many (if any) trannies in marketing. Or at least not anything related to housing, construction, architecture, real estate etc and those are the people I work with. It's all pretty normal guys or fairly normal actual women. I imagine things like fashion or some other cheap consumer shit is probably trannyland though and that's what AI will replace first without a doubt.
>>
>>107828973
I have a tab s9 and while i would still choose it over the ipad (purely from a specs perspective), if you have unlimited budget an ipad pro is better. also ipados has way more and better drawing apps. android has krita at least so it has the most powerful of drawing apps, but the UI hasnt been optimised for android yet.

maybe OP wants to make something nice and not slop himself
>Just buy charcoal, or good pencil and use regular paper.
real paper doesn't have command-z to undo
>>
>>107829039
>why make something in the age of slop
So you lambast someone for not using AI while shitting on AI at the same time. Cool.
>>
>>107828973
you pretty much have 3 options: ipad, galaxy tabs, and wacom movinkpad 14, ipad have best aspect ratio, wacom have best stylus, samsung have best overall package

And i do think if you really want to draw and learn it there is no better choice than good pen and paper, lack of ctrl z is making you try harder so you learn faster.

Dont listen ai slopers trash talking about ai, retarded kid with pencil will make better art than their entire ssd full of generated anime porn, just becasue he is trying, all they do is using more advanced search engine so they can larp as creators
>>
If you don't want to spend ipad money, look at lenovo, they have decent 13 inch tablet for like 250
>>107829720
>isn't apple pencil absolute dogshit?
I would say it's one of the best styluses around.
>>107829802
>Surface Pro (Intel). It's an x86 computer running Windows
It's very bad at being a tablet.
>>
>>107829802
>Surface Pro
nightmare
>>
Have you considered just getting a regular wacom tablet without a screen that you attach to your laptop
I only use mine for writing notes but its pretty comfy
>>
>>107831082
Not OP but it's really not the same experience at all. Writing is one thing, but drawing is another.
>>
>>107831082
its better for your back, ive seen few pros working on screenles tablets and good monitors so they can sit or stand stright, for casual use i dont think it matters, screenless tablets are harder to work with, you look on monitor and draw without looking no ur hands, second thing is scale : for example screenles tablet is a4 size (13inch) and your monitor is 27inches, so 1inch line on screenless tablet will be 2 inches on ur monitor, its hard to adjust to this
>>
>>107831152
also you can plug an iPad into a monitor that has USB-C input and use the monitor's USB ports for keyboard and mouse
>>
>>107828973
I got a Samsung Tablet on black friday. It was pretty much half of what a corresponding iPad Pro would have cost, so it was a no brainer.

What's also annoying about iPadOS is that its limited in how you can install non app store apps.
>>

Only if digital art = anime art style to you

are you a masochist or stuck in 2010?

*adapted software. There's lots of streached up phone apps, that work worse than a desktop site on a tablet. And it lack some desktop grade such as da Vinci and lightroom applications as well. I bought an android tablet to replace my old iPad pro. Big mistake.

If you only care about drawing get the MovinkPad Pro 14.

Samsung pens are old wacom tech and not amazing, and their nibs are weird. iPad pens dont have hover unless you get the latest iPad Pro, so you cant see what your brush size is on the non pro pen.

The movink uses the same stylus as the Cintiq Pro line. It's a no brainer if you are buying a drawing tablet in 2025. You can also plug it into your PC and use it as a cintiq, but i read you cant customise the pen buttons and it's not using DisplayPort or anything so i assume thered be a little lag doing that.

Go with movink pad pro 14.

t. regret buying an iPad Air 5th gen because it doesnt have brush hover and i find it hard to paint without it. take a random sketch as my "i am an amateur artist" proof if needed.
>>
>>107832744
small correction: Apple Pencil Pro (pen with brush hover) actually works on a few ipads.
iPad Pro (M4, M5), iPad Air (M2, M3), iPad Mini (A17 Pro).

If you go with one of them, the iPad is fine. I just hate pencil i use on my M1 Air because it doesnt let me brush hover.

I'd still go with wacom if i chose today, but either go iPad or Wacom imo.
>>
>>107832744
there is also huawei
>>107829057
their new pen is incredible and their screens have paper like coating.
all of it for 1/3 of the price of an ipad.
>>
Why are people here even recommending the Surface Pro
>>
>>107833095
true, but no google play suport and some apps like csp are subscription based, dont know how that setup will work with huwawei

>>107832744
have movikpad 14 and for drawing its awsome, but as a tablet, i dunno, screen is good, speakers are dogshit and clean android dont have that many option for multitasking, also lack of cases and keyboard folio really hurt usability outside room drawing
>>
>>107828973
Assuming you're buying m4 (or m5) ipad or a Galaxy S10 or S11 oir whatever is latest, it fully depends on A, what pen you prefer and B, if you have access to a computer to transfer files easily (cloud works too for some apps but generally, ipad will want itunes)
>>
What if you never had one and you can't test them either. What's the safest choice here?
>>
>>107828973
get a 2nd hand surface
>>
>>107835353
Defeats the point of buying anything new.
