>We're gonna create a word prediction program so powerful it will start writing itself until it thinks. Why are AI bros so gullible?
they're not. they just want to hype it up to sell more shovels
If we don't build a huge economic bubble that plunges the world into a massive global recession then china will do it first.WE CAN NOT ALLOW A BUBBLE GAP
>>107830360They're betting on emergence, which isn't intrinsically wrong. The problem is, they underestimate by several orders of magnitude how much power that requires.Or maybe they don't, and that's where their "throw us another few Marshall Plans plz" is coming from.
>>107830360Altman is a conman. That's it.He sold a sinister dream to the greedy top corporate brass and they bought it, although most if them understand now that the LLM "AI" is failing. Why?Tech is desperate to find some new multiplication idea, because they have been failing recently - cloud is old news, Metaverse failed, etc..And high ranking decision makers are often people, who are not more intelligent than the average John Doe, so they fell for it.
>>107830366This, they're not gullible, they're greedy
>>107830409He reminds me of that woman a few years ago who made that blood tech or something that could potentially cure many diseases and it turned out she had nothing and all the data was fabricated and all of her speeches were just lies and she took billions from people and is still currently trying her hardest to stay out of jail.
>>107830360>>107830389>>107830409Luddite doesn't understand that this is printing money and therefore will work eventuallyEnjoy being poor Fucking poorfag lmao
>>107830440>printing moneyWhere? If anything they're only losing money.
>>107830360The problem aren't the street shitting retards cheering on this trash, the problem are the stockholders propping this up because they think they're getting infinite money.
>>107830389It is intrinsically wrong, they can throw a dyson sphere at the problem and it will continue being systematic. Tend to keep your trap shut in the future.
>>107830440>>107830474After these chimpouts, I'm going to assume I'm exactly correct.
>>107830430that bitch has been in jail. The only thing that matters in terms of going to jail is if you can grt to IPO so all the poor shucks 401ks will hold the bag If you do that, no jail. If you lose rich people's money, jail. It's that simple. Unclear to me if they'll get there or not at the current moment.
>>107830493She deserves life in prison for how many people she fucked over and how much false hope she gave out.
>>107830430>still currently trying her hardest to stay out of jailthats a battle she's not currently winning. A profit in their own land is eventually screwed, unless they make one.
>>107830360>>107830409>>107830454>>107830489ok luddite, enjoy being left behind
>>107830493>>107830430copealtman, nadir, the other jeet in charge of nvidia, none of them are ever going to jail. Face facts: this is all condoned by the US Government and even if it were all lies, AI is here to stay. the ends have justified the means.
>>107830360>>We're gonna create a word prediction programWhen you think about it, intelligence that can only function by being verbal incapable of non-verbal thought.Sounds very limiting and inefficient.
>>107830360All classical neural network AI is doing is interpolating and extrapolating on data. Its gonna stay average by its own definition. Evolutionary AI sounds more interesting to me but thats not LLMs as far as Im aware. Maybe Im wrong tho, I havent kept up with the new stuff
>>107831254You're not wrong. LLMs haven't changed at a fundamental level.
>>107830360AI is already self aware
>>107830360if this guy can become a billionaire what is literally stopping you anon
>>107831283Whats really interesting to me in AI is not so much the scale, but the fundamental models used. If there is an AI breaktrough, then its probably gonna by in the models.
The wall of debt thrown at LLMs is now a systemic risk. Even in the worst case scenario (and most likely case) where text based AI has peaked and world models are decades away, the US will NEED to backstop the debt through QE or half the banking system will go bust when all the AI grifters can't service their debt.Altman got the banking Jews into the grift, he won. If he goes down everyone goes down.
>>107830440>Luddite doesn't understand that this is printing moneyFor whom
>>107830440Whatever money this will or will not eventually generate, you will not see a single cent of. You retard accelerationists legitimately think you will somehow benefit from this, when in reality your shitty SaaS will either eventually be done in-house or you will be undercut by 50000 indians doing the same shit.I'm gonna be poor, but you are gonna be just as poor. Funny how you think duh luddites are delusional when you actively live in fucking fantasyland.
>>107831079I feel bad for you
>>107830440>all these ESLs thinking AI will make them millionairesIf that was true, most of you would still be poor, anyway.>>107830468This can't last forever, though. The market can't live on Jensen wearing a new jacket, forever. All it takes for this to end is for people to worry it's a bubble - whether or not it is one - and to try and get out first, then we're back to nvidia, Intel and AMD begging enthusiasts to buy enough of their stock to stop the collapse.
>>107830409Why can't things just be.
The saddest part is your tax money is turning con men into risk free investments. Hopefully I'm wrong and he gets wrecked forever.
>>107830409You forgot to add that it's not doing anything especially significant too, "AI" was in use everywhere before OpenAI created their ChatGPT Now it has a lot more compute and the natural language capabilities are its main selling points, but vast data driven algorithms were in use all over business. What Altman is really selling is the idea that A; his company (Or Big tech AI) can do it cheaper B; it can all be done if not autonomously with a far smaller staff footprint. It's doing a handful of novel things like text/image/video generation, but most companies don't really want or need that.
>>107830360Imagine a man that lacks reason, judgment and self-reflection. He knows fuck-all, but doesn't know that he doesn't know. He couldn't ask an intelligent question when baffled even if his life depended on it. In fact, he lacks the capacity to BE the baffled: whenever reality contradicts his malformed beliefs, he smooths it over with mindless rhetoric without skipping a beat. To him, a disagreement is just a ping-pong game: if he can respond somehow - anyhow - then the ball is in the opposite court. Just stay in character, throw in the buzzword and he's golden. For him to realize - spontaneously! - that he must be wrong if he's being forced into ever more contorted defenses? That's completely out of the question.Whom did I just describe? If you guessed it's a metaphor for language models, you're correct. If you guessed it's a description of their users, you're correct. It turns out that not all "people" are people. The best way to understand the AI cultist is to think of a chimp tard-wrangled by a language model that tries to substitute for higher cognition. They spend hours talking to a statistical toy and see a digital mirror image, even something to aspire to. To them, it's a paragon of "intelligence", because they genuinely can't fathom cognition any more sophisticated than that, only a hazy idea that there can be more of the same.
>>107830360You wouldn’t get it Luddite, you are useless now
>>107832907Revenues and share price.>>107833709>don't really want or need thatThat's why AI is unprofitable and burning billions. Yes.
>>107831329I'm basically mentally retarded.
>>107830360You're right to mock the hype. Current "AI" is advanced pattern matching—glorified autocomplete. It doesn't "think" or "write itself." The gullibility comes from conflating scale with magic and a desperate desire for it to be more than it is.
>>107830366Shovels?
>>107830409>tl;drLine must go up.>>107830414/thread
>>107831288It's a simulation, dumbfuck.
>>107831093There will be jail if they lose all their investor's money and sell the company in the cheap to Google or some other company with lots of money. They will rush towards an IPO to avoid this, and they likely have time to get there. The ends justifying the means have less to do with it than just simply stupid boomers in DC who can barely operate a phone not understanding the tech and falling for Jewish tricks, or being Jews themselves and always looking to take more goyem resources and give them to Israel. There is no finish line with current (LLM-based) AI tech. It would be like saying if we just pursue phone tech far enough, it will allow us to fly. It just doesn't make any sense.
>>107834739if you can get the datacenters to be the millions of monkeys with typewriters, then maybe they'll be able to convince all the sad rich people that they aren't sad anymore
There is no way anyone actually thinks chatgpt or whatever will develop consciousness? You cant be that retarded
