Anybody see the NVIDIA G-SYNC Pulsar? I have been waiting for something like this since the days of CRT came to an end. Will it be worth the hype? Do you guys think AMD is working on open-source alternative? Maybe if this is decent enough I can get rid of all my CRT's.SourcesDigital Foundry:https://www.digitalfoundry.net/features/nvidia-g-sync-pulsar-is-a-motion-clarity-revelationDF YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRxzGyxJIbANvidia:https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/g-sync-pulsar-gaming-monitors-available-january-7-2026/G-SYNC Pulsar & Ambient Adaptive Tech | Ultimate Motion Clarity YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MnI1x35H1Q
This is just strobbing which is like permanent VRR flicker. BFI on OLED fixes motion clarity but looks far less distracting. The only downside to BFI is lower brightness but new OLEDs already get eye searing bright compared to old ones.
Isn't like framegen? Better smoothness at the cost of input lag. OLED still has better input lag than IPS.
>>107832445This technology claims no visible flicker. BFI also gives flicker btw.
>>107832458This is something totally different.
>>107832399>>107832484This is just backlight strobing, you can get the same results on an OLED with software since every pixel is self illuminated. In fact something very similar has already existed for a year if your OLED has 240Hz or more:https://blurbusters.com/crt-simulation-in-a-gpu-shader-looks-better-than-bfi/
>>107832445NopeThis is a much bigger dealCan go down to 48hz and supports any inbetween refresh rateThis means all those retro systems and arcades with weird refresh rates like 59.788929998291hz or some shit work perfectly because of G-Sync combined with strobbingPlus this has a rolling scan implementation and even in lower refresh rates it's bright because of brightness/voltage boost compensation which you can't do with OLED right nowThis can't be implemented in OLEDs yetLCD is suited for it, only drawback is the contrast/black levels
>>107832550"I, myself, saw it at CES 2025 a year ago, and it was the best VRR strobing implmentation we had seen, "https://blurbusters.com/nvidia-listened-g-sync-pulsar-refresh-rate-range-widened-to-optionally-include-60-hz/So no, you can't get the same results
>>107832484>>107832561>>107832591>Advertising (all forms) is not welcome—this includes any type of referral linking, "offers", soliciting, begging, stream threads, etc.
>>107832550>This is just backlight strobing, you can get the same results on an OLED with software since every pixel is self illuminated. No you cannot niggerLiterally the reason this monitor in the OP can go down to 48hz is because of Blurbusters sending Nvidia a letterWhy don't you show the latest article from the blurbusters site? https://blurbusters.com/nvidia-listened-g-sync-pulsar-refresh-rate-range-widened-to-optionally-include-60-hz/In addition to what I wrote here >>107832561Because of the hardware solution much like with the XG2431 you can get better motion clarity than the panel's native refresh rateThough this will depend how much you are allowed to tweak the strobe cycle per refresh rate
>>107832606Fuck off spamming moron
>>107832399>Fake refresh rateIncredible, just, amazing really
>>107832607How about you read about how the product you push works, shill retard? It's basically an emulation of >>107832550 on backlit displays.
>>107832641No it is notThe BFI support on OLED has been trash since LG C2Kill yourself
>>107832641BFI has always been available for backlit displays. Why would they try to emulate something that already exists? Moron.>>107832639How retarded are you?
>strobingWe spent decades trying to get rid of that.
>>107832607>spend a lot of money on a screen with better motion clarity>every game has temporal smearingsasuga
>>107832399>Ultimate esport displayAnd into the trash bin it goes: I didn't ask for this and don't care at all.
>>107832788>smearingAnother fucking retard
>>107832796>Muh E-Sports bullshitWhere are you faggots coming from?Nobody in the E-Sports community asked for strobing support for 48hz
why is /g/ so retarded?
>>107832858Stop shilling your trash, nigger
>>107832484But same thing in practice? Strobe the screen for better motion clarity (smoothness) but IPS still has worse input lag than OLED.
>>107832931Yeah. The difference being that it strobes part of the image instead of the whole image. so 180hz at 60hz content will strobe 1/3 of the image continuously as a rolling scan. less jarring for your eyes.https://testufo.com/crt mimics this. i imagine the hardware version will have better color and gets rid of the rolling line.
any screenshot example of ufo test yet?
>>107832817>semantics>ad hominemliterally no u
>>107832399>jeet-sync pulsaar
>>107832858people who buy oled (the thing designed to shit itself and die eventually if you don't babysit it correctly) aren't the smartest so they have to take it out on people who just buy an IPS display that actually works.
