PNG supports HDR now.
Pretty cool, right?
>>
Here's an example: https://files.catbox.moe/69g3g3.png
You can view it if you own an HDR monitor.
>>
>>107834187
Note: only on Chromium based browsers, Firefox doesn't support HDR.
>>
>>107834198
matter of time I suppose
>>
>HDR
What is even the point, hidden sekrit color mode that can't be accessed by normal PNGs? Seems dumb desu

Seems pretty redundant and unnecessary when AVIF already supports HDR in 10 and 12 bit depths. PNG only allows dogshit 8 bit or 16 bit. So either your HDR image will look like dogshit or it will be the size of a YIFY movie rip...

meme shit for retards to waste their money on

Sure, AVIF can be HDR too, but it's not a great image format.

It's the only direct competitor to hardware accelerated HEIC. Except you know, without 512x512 grid limitations and the cancerous royalty fees/patent trolling by mpeg-la and whatnot.

Nightly added support for HDR.
>>

Are you having unprotected anal sex with me right now or are you for real?
>>
>>107836558
>As of the latest Nightly, HDR videos like those on YouTube play correctly on Windows, though it may require the about:config option media.wmf.force.allow-p010-format to be set to true for the videos to have correct colors and brightness.
>>
How? Extending PNG is easy. Actually using the extensions anywhere isn't. Is this just another IDAT like chunk but with extra bits for brightness?
>>
>>107834174
Oh yes, I've always wanted for my pictures too be displayed in a non-standard way depending on the program and Windows color management shit!

They updated the PNG format in 2025

isn't the thread about image files?
>>

It supports both, tested it out, it's broken as fuck though.

I see, thanks

Thank you google very cool
