Light themes are objectively superior to dark themes, why do so many people still choose dark?
>>107835866Because they're manchildren.
Personal preference.
>>107835866I dim my lights when writing
>>107835866>light theme>emacs>rust$20 says this person is also wearing socks that go up to their thighs
Yup, this board's a lost cause, it was nice while it lasted.
>>107836064Wtf, this app is awesome.Let me just recap. This guy listed off so many embarrassing fax about the OP.Then aptly pointed out that this is trans/femboy type sh#t.Set-up and punchline. As I said, awesome.
>>107835866I have floaters, so it shows on bright backgrounds. Light mode can fuck off.
>>107835866It's hard looking for a theme that isn't a mix of random colors. It's like I am looking at the lights of a christmas tree. It's much less annoying on a light theme though
yeah sure op I agree, but pic not related, that color scheme is gay
>>107835866> white theme> eMacs> RustWhite man's kit.
>>107836064>not having /g/-approved socks
>light theme in VS Code or any fork/clone>mouse cursor fucks up
>>107835866>objectively superior>posts some washed out unreadable bsfind something at least as clean as ir black and then we'll talk.
>>107835866Why would I want a light shining in my eyes all day? If I wanted sore eyes every day I would have gotten a job staring at your mom .
>>107836308>spotted the AMD GPU userThis has been an issue for years on Chromium-based applications btw.
>>107836123>floatersI went through a phase of dark theme after I first got my floatersI was deeply depressed, I didn't even want to go outside or do any activities because I hyperfocused on the thingthen I had a bit of a epyphany. you know how you baby your electronics after you first get them, and you may even get sad when you get the first scratch, but after a while you throw them around like it's nothing?I went back to light theme. I was getting paid to stare at my floaters 8h a day anywayexposure therapy, I supposenow I don't give a shit (most of the time. I still have moments when I get very sad that I'll never look at anything without it looking like a dirty bathroom mirror)your mileage may vary, though
>>107835953/thread
>>107836490I don't notice it much really just when I first go outside in the light and when I try to watch hockey because of the white rink. Winter Olympics might piss me off too.
>>107836490>>107836123> floaters I had them all my life how are they a problem? They only show up when I move them.
>>107835866Zoomers started staying up all night after COVID and ruined their sleep with mounting debt and terrible eyesight.
>>107835866Modern "light" themes look like complete shit, they are so washed out. In regards to UI theming, it goes.classic > dark > light
I prefer darker themes lookswise but I find it way easier to read black text on white background
>>107835866Non-whites can't handle bright colors. That's why they prefer dark themes.
>>107835866Because they're not superior. They're better on bright environments and bad at dark environments.
>>107835866And btw just so you know there are devs that setup vim or emacs to show dark on evening and light in the morning, so you're just being in inflexible noob from their point of view.
Wrong.
>>107835866probably because they are neet enough to avoid sunlight and not turn their lights on, they love utter darkness
>>107836123this
>>107835866Serious non contrarian answer. I literally just switched portions of my day to day production to dark mode. Only because my eyes were bugging out bad. I'm 41 and have been working with technology for over twenty years. The light themes, given how granular and strenuous, the task is, just hurt now. >>107835872For me, it has nothing to do with being some hype-beat numale. It's just a matter of comfort, as I work. It's like a new back rest for your chair.
>>107835866>objectively superiorevery time
>>107836123You know, I never thought about this, but I think that's why instinctively switch to dark mode. I hate sunny days because of those fuckers, so it makes sense that I prefer to look at a dark surface, but it's not something I had directly considered.
Full black is too dark and bright neon text is too bright 4chins Tomorrow is pretty good
>>107835866i set my colors as gruvbox light and i like it
>>107837647you have not learned the way.
Science says light themes with muted colors are better than dark themes if you're on the computer with the lights on, which you should be. Only retards who don't care about going blind when hitting 40 code with the lights off
