>no backdoorYou are getting one, right? Picrel is the StarFive VisionFive2, but there are other SBCs built on RISC-V as well
>>107841981There is not enough savings on risc to be worth the sw immaturity hassle vs arm.
until the rva23 boards start coming out they're pretty much useless
>>107841988
>>107841981>no backdoor >made by chinks yeah sure anon I truly believe the guys backdooring literally everything, even the fucking streets, aren't backdooring this particular product
>>107841981>StarFive no backdoorlamo the whole point of riscv is so that it would be cheaper and easier to add backdoors and proprietary ip cores into ic design
>>107842052>>107842053This. So much this. Remember the one and only rule: The West is good and China is bad! Thinking anything else is strictly prohibited.
>>107842239>China good because⦠Le CIAHow about they both just see you as cattle and want to control your life? I understand the justifiable skepticism for the US. But pretending that Pooh and gang are your personal saviors and friend is flat out profound mental retardation
Risc-v is slower and shitter than ARM. China already has LoongArch for high performance stuff. RISC-V is just for microcontrollers now; I doubt the RISC-V SoC stuff will ever take off to the degree that it becomes better than ARM.
>>107842542ARM spent over 30 years stuck inside microcontrollers. made an appearance in unaffordable computers in 1987 and disappeared out of that space and reappeared as a microcontroller for mobile devices. most applications of ARM today are microcontrollers. now RISC-V is eating a piece of that market: time for the mental breakdown and cope posts from /g/'s most tech illiterate nigger species.> I doubt the RISC-V SoC stuff will ever take off that's because you are an uneducated nigger that eats ticks and fleas that you pick out of your wife's boyfriend's fur.
>>107842650sure sure. the fact is that all of the riscv boards are slow and useless beyond very light tasks.
>>107842286Not disagreeing in the slightest, but I vacilliate wondering if it's better to be backdoored by a nation I live in that can jail me, versus one I'm never going to step foot in.
>>107841981they got a big grant from israe- i mean intel a few years back. there's a backdoor alright
>>107841981I got a $5 milk-v duo a couple of years ago, but I've only used it for doing Advent of Code in riscv assembly and messing around with making shitty memelangs that compile to riscv. Might get something more powerful in a couple years if I want to set up a home server, but I don't really need one right now.
>>107842239That's correct Mr Rice Dick Syndrome
>>107843130You're slow and useless, go be a tech luddite somewhere else kid
>>107846239https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/15848263
>>107842542>LoongArch for high performance stuff.LOL
>>107841981dot com
>>107847031It's only like 5 years behind x86 in raw performance, which isn't bad considering they don't go through TSMC.
>>107841981I'm waiting until its good enough to play back 4k video at 60fps then I'll be swapping over and using it as my daily device
>>107847170more than 5, and it's more expensive.
