for what purpose?
what the fuck is that screen size
>>107843062were you hoping for dvorak? you know you can do that on a touchscreen
>>107843062>Unihurtz saw Dicks Cummunicator
>>107843062Actually looks decent this time. The Titan and Titan2's dimensions and overall design were total blocky shit if they were meant to be spiritual successors to the Passport
>>107843062>for what purpose?typing, i presume
>>107843089unironicallybut it made them come out with something way closer to a BBdon't want the titan 2 anymore when this exists
>>107843173I bet it still uses MediaKek and doesn't have 3.5mm jack and microSD slot. Wish Xiaomi would make something like this or Clicks Communicator.
>>107843062Imagine catering to boomers and not adding audio jack, pretty stupid.
>>107843219Boomers can barely type, Gen X and early millenials is where the physical keyboard love (i.e. not being mentally handicapped by touchscreen from birth) resides
>>107843062Gimmick smartphone for who? If you need texting get a dumb phone. If you need YouTube and social media this is too small. If you need smart features for work some important vibecoded application won't scale properly for your screen and you'll need a normal phone.
Users like actual buttons, audio jacks and expandable storage. All of this was removed to make the costs of producing a phone cheaper, yet companies continue to charge more and more. This was a benefit to the company and not the consumer.
>>107843193>it still uses MediaKek and doesn't have 3.5mm jack and microSD slotThis right here is why I've never wanted to touch a Unihertz phone Why make hardware in a classic style if you're not going to include essentials that people who are interested in these devices expect?
Total foreign keyboard death
>>107843336While also to limit the amount of access an "average" user can (or is required to) do, thus making it simultaneously more accessible while ensuring the masses become entrained to only doing the simplest tasks allowed to them by the limited interface and control mechanisms.
>>107843062>for what purpose?probing the market to see if it makes a comeback or not. corporations always probe the market with different shit. nobody knows what y'all mfs gonna pay for next so gotta find out somehow
>>107843062Elite means it's gonna be expensive? I would have bought it if it was 200 bucks
>>107843532They ask $399 for the regular Titan2 as MSRP. I bet the Elite will be $599
>>107843468These are really win/win situations for companies. The consumer cant really push back in a meaningful way, so the companies can just force this and you have to deal with it. It lowers production cost of the phone, then pushes the user to another product to solve the problems. No 3.5mm jack? >> "Buy our wonderful usb-c to 3.55mm adapter"No expandable storage?>> "Subscribe to our cloud storage so you actually have room for the massive pictures and 4k videos the phone generates!"
>>107843475This is the third iteration of the same concept from the same company, they're way past 'probing' by now
>>107843563somebody must enjoy getting probed
>>107843580blackberry sized phones make for great butt plugs
>>107843062>>107843193Here Unihertz, I just made you a design to rake in millions. You're welcome. Also use Snapdragon SoC, OLED screen, stereo speakers, good cameras, under screen fingerprint reader, 3.5mm jack and microSD slot like a Xiaomi managed in the 250€ to 500€ range. If you manage to pull the above off with the phone design and keyboard concept in pic related, I'd easily buy it for 500€. ...or Xiaomi just do a test run like this pls. Would buy. Xiaomi could probably manage it even much cheaper.
>>107843413Titan 1 had microSD and 3.5mm tho, I had one.
>>107843608Also the removable keyboard concept would be even cheaper and easier if we remove wireless and Bluetooth and just make it capacitive using the underlaying screen.
>>107843608Samsung used to make a detachable keyboard for their phones that doesn't even use any circuitry
>>107843674Yeah, that was the idea behind >>107843625 too.
>>107843625with a oled screen it would also save battery while using it
>>107843062I'm tired of slabs. I want a keyboard again.
>>107843617>I had one.Why don't you have it anymore?
>>107844076I gave it to your mother.
touchscreen button/ui is the worst thing ever invented i'd get this if it had a headphone jack
>>107844105Touchscreen is a faster form of input for handheld computers.
>>107844125>>>>Anonymous 01/12/26(Mon)12:12:51 No.107844101wrong
>>107844125literally doesn't even make sense slightly there is nothing intrinsically faster about hitting a touchscreen then a button. Arguably the main difference would be 1 thumbed operation (which you could still have on top for navigation hypothetically) however the issue is if you are actually doing anything semi-serious or focused. A game, productivity app, email, etc. Anything serious is capped off in terms of usability and all the UI design has to be super simple so it can be done with touch. The main issue with touchscreen is what it turns UI design into and the majority of UI/web design is so bad now because it has to cater to touch screens.Touch screens at best only cater to the like brainless doomscrolling thing where you are absentmindedly looking around with one thumb. The second you are doing anything serious it is WAY worse and the UI is just permanently ruined because it needs to cater towards retards because of the touch screen. Because of this basically there is just like 0 real usability to phones. They are computers that should be able to do a ton but without hotkeys, discrete button based input and things like that there is a hard cap on what you are capable of doing with them at all. I'll grant using touchscreens may be faster for what-people-do-with-phones-now but because they have been degraded so that the only thing people try to do with phones is brain damaged stuff that frankly probably doesn't need to be done at all.
It is objectively harder to press a touchscreen key than it is to press a physical key of the same size when you get within a certain range. Playing an emulator on a phone with a touchscreen also emphasizes the objective difference with the loss of tactile feedback. The only argument that can be made in favor of a touchscreen keyboard is that it can hide when not in use and offer larger screen space for media. This could be mitigate with better phone design though.
Thoughs on detatachle keyboards?
the ideal phone would have a standard screen but has a keyboard on the backbest of both worlds with zero compromises
>>107844163But you're not doing anything serious on a phone or a tablet, you will do that on a laptop/desktop.
>>107844076Bought it out of curiosity. Used it and played around with it for a little over a week, returned it (Amazon). Hardware was top notch in every way, but it was severely lacking in the software side. I did try it pretty early near release though.
>>107844256That's a cool idea, my idea was something like those foldable phones but instead of another screen you get a keyboard
>>107844239I like the concept but the manufacturer markets this as some sort of AI slop companion, only worth considering if rootable.
>>107844292That's because of touch screens, there's plenty of serious stuff you could do on a phone the computation isn't an issue. It's literally just a UI/interface issue which is the whole point of what I said.
>>107844256the first android phone already perfected the design, we have never topped this.
>>107844422>That's because of touch screensAnd screen size, no mouse, no good keyboard. Now you're going to tell me you want to connect a mouse to your phone too, and a usb hub...
>>107843062The Droid4 was my first and favorite smartphone.
>>107844432type on a landscape screen? how is that perfect? you want the screen to be horizontal so you can see more of the text.
Why can't we just have something like this again?
>>107844556Because women don't care
>>107844575These days I feel like half of /g/ would argue against qwerty phones since none of these newfags ever had one and grew up on fucking touch screens.
>>107844575>womenthere's the problem
>>10784306Literally let me root it and I'll buy one. They won't so I won't.
>>107844642meant for >>107843062
>>107843413my titan pocket has 3.5mm and SD card, even IR remotemajority of unihertz have that (or at least used to)
i use colemak-dh and i attempted to use this keyboard layout on a touchscreen. it's not very goodi think maybe qwerty is better for small keyboards than colemak, which was a shocking realization for me because on a full physical keyboard colemak-dh is far superior
>>107843062does it run gentoo?
>>107843062let me guess, yet another mediatek shitness?into the trash it goes preemptively
>>107843062are you afraid and shitting ur pants, Tim Crapple? are you afraid that zoomies want dumb phones now? are you afraid of the upcoming phone culture shift, Craig FEDerniggi?
>>107845482I miss my titan pocket fuckin shit
