who does ">fixes your distrohopping" posts even appeal to? why are people trying to jerk each other off so hard on /g/ just because they chose a particular distro, EACH existing for its own use case even if it is a minute one? such faggotry needs to be studied
>>
They're trying to justify how much time they wasted.

arguing with other people that is, this is exactly what keeps people away from linux, this "i use x, you use y, i am better" mindset is fucking cancerous

Well, keeping people away from Linux is probably good for their mental health and society anyway.

I don't really see the point, but I think it might have a good intention. One of the problems with Linux is that there are way too many distros, and if someone wants to try Linux he'll just find an endless list of options telling him to pick one depending on things he literally know nothing about. Telling those people "look no more, this is the one you need" might make thing less overwhelming?

their and theirs only, gatekeeping keeps the linux market share low and because of the low share not many devs actually give a shit

the way i see it, i firmly believe they need a good starting point, distrohopping can be a healthy practice, i mean i distrohopped for a while till i found arch to be the one distro that actually treats me the best, DO NOT EVER TAKE MY WORD FOR IT THOUGH, each person is different and as such a different distro would likely suit them, personally i recommend mint (any edition) or fedora (kde specifically) as a starting point, when one wants to distrohop and to what do they distrohop to should be left up to them but they should not ever be left completely in the dark, i firmly believe every linux newb needs help and every bit of respect and welcome

without distrohopping, i wouldn't have ever gathered up these recommendations for you, some walk so others can run, it's simple as, one should not be afraid to commit mistakes, but when one does, they should learn from it
