You don't need a new computer. Your COVID PC is good enough.
>>107850517>You don't need a new computer. Your COVID PC is good enough. So why do software hardware requirements keep increasing?
>>107850517>RX 560 2GB>DDR3-1600 8GB>Athlon X4 870Knah man i hauled that stuff to the junk shop last year
>>107850517Yeah. That's why I don't upgrade. I don't want to play modern games and my computer is more than fast enough and has enough RAM for any devtools I use.
>>107850517The cope poorfags will come up with...
in college I got a new PC every yearNow these zoomers are going to try to get through all 4 years on their high school PC
>>107850517My last PC was fucking 13 years old.
>>107850624>Now these zoomers are going to try to get through all 4 years on their high school PCI worked as a video editor back in grade 9, my PC has required very few modifications since then (just storage, and more RAM.) Technology doesn't change enough each generation to rationalize purchasing a new machine on any frequency—my PC is 9 years old and runs great.
>>107850517i bought my pc in 2014 and have not upgraded sincefuck you and your mindless consumerism
>>107850517The only upgrade my pc has gotten since 2018 is a new cpu cooler
>>107850783>i'm poor! fuck you for being able to afford things!
>>107850517>16c/32t, 64/24GB RAM/VRAM>almost 5 years old nowIt's really not... I'm going Threadripper on my next build for more flexibility (cores, PCIE lanes, etc). Consumer hardware has plateaued and they're really not gonna give us more than a few little speedups going forward. If you just browse and do your homework my PC would be more than enough, but when it comes to total compute it's falling behind fast... hell, even my high-end 4090 feels like the minimum spec these days with new games running like ass without DLSS maxed out (~240p to 4K).
>>107850517I need to run Solidworks. Will this be enough?
>>107850640>My last PC was fucking 13 years old.Based. I just upgraded my sandy bridge i5 2500k to a 5800x. My next upgrade will be zen7.
The truer point is that we have pretty good games that run on mid tier hardware from current yearmost games arent some path tracing only showcases of future tech, and if they're visually mediocre and arent made on unreal 5 they run at 60fps at 1440p on kinda shit hardware using dlss
It's almost ten years old.... it's so tired....
My screen sometimes goes black for a few seconds randomly is my 980 gpu dying soon? thermals look good so it's not overheat I really don't want to build a new pc
>>107851219the chain includes your monitor, the ports, the cable and dsc that may have isseus with driver softwaresince you havent already replaced the 980 you must be poor in which case consider suicideor try DDU, different cable, monitor, port, replug gpu power cables
>>107850517lol, my last computer was certainly not good enough
>>107851235could it be that my old ass hdmi cable can't do stable 2k 144hz?
>>107851290its unlikelyyou may want to use hwinfo to check stuff like temps on gpu
