Kinda tempted to get one of these. I think it's probably overkill for an 9800X3D though. Also, it really triggers me that AIO makers don't make the hoses come from the top of the CPU block and instead have it all asymetrical and shit. Stock fans, or swap them out?
>>107852344If price is not big concern for me, is the Asus I mentioned good monitor? I see it has the dual mode for 1080p, which I think not many monitors have, and when I look at stands, not many monitors have that square style leg, LG probably only one that has it too. So between LG and Asus, is Asus better then?
I just got a Asus Prime 5070 Ti.And I really don't feel like from another 500$ on my PC. But my monitor is so old. It's like a 2010 monitor. So it will waste all the visual quality upgrade I would get form the new card.Is this a decent OLED monitor?
in the middle of restoring my old macbook. last i touched this thing, i swapped out the 250gb hard drive for a 128gb ssd back in college, and now half the drive's been taken up. would a larger capacity help with performance am i purely hamstrung by it being 16 years old at this point?been reading about the matter all day and i still don't know for certain. at the same time i'm eyeing a 1tb ssd with tlc, and though it's the last one in stock, i feel it'd be a waste on this machine when it could go to my pc instead. thx in advance
>>107852387There are practically 0 high-end 32" 4K IPS gaming monitors being made today. That 1080p dual mode doesn't take advantage of the perfect integer scaling potential of the display, which leads to blurry 1080p mode.

>>107852432>That 1080p dual mode doesn't take advantage of the perfect integer scaling potential of the display, which leads to blurry 1080p modeSo if I want good scaling to 1080p, I have to use my GPU's driver program, instead of using the monitor's built-in feature? Basically select "GPU scaling" as opposed to relying on monitor scaling

>>107852453Pretty much.NVIDIA’s Integer Scaling only works when you are sending a resolution lower than the native one. When you activate 1080p dual mode for that monitor, you're changing the native resolution to 1080p.That monitor's overpriced for what it does.
>>1078524611200$ for a new monitor seems insanely over priced.
I bought the alienware 3225qf but I think it was a retarded decisiondon't get me wrong, the monitor itself is great however I think OLED is the wrong tech for my caseI do use it in a bright room but the curved display and anti-reflection tech is actually really good, I barely notice any issues, but it's winter right now, I don't know what it will be like in the middle of summerbasically I'm a shut-in, I work WFH for 8 hours and then spend another 8 hours on my personal computer until bedI use the OLED as the primary monitor for both and after like 3-4 hours it's getting really noticeable that the monitor is dimming the screen heavily because a lot of my work involves static elementswhites are basically mid-grey thanks to the dimming and it's really irritating me>just use dark modesome of the stuff I use doesn't have dark mode and I also sometimes spend my time looking at co-workers screensharing and they don't use dark modeso I'm not sure if I should keep it, the dimming really pisses me off and the OSD brightness slider doesn't even change anything between 30 and 100so I was looking for alternatives and I'd prefer curved because of my window placement in this room (on an even screen I'd see the window on the left side of the monitor, this was a problem with my gigabyte IPS, nasty glare)but the only "good" curved ones that can handle reflections I could find are the NEO G8 (which has a really aggressive curve and scanlines) and the msi 321cupdfwould these be a viable pick for my case?are curved non-oleds (please no ultrawide) really that rare?pic related, no I can't move my desk/monitor, there are more windows/doors in this room as well

Why do people act like you HAVE to build your gaming PC all at once. You don't HAVE to. You can buy a 9800X3D with all the component, spend $800 and just use a shitty GPU like a last gen 6700XT and wait until you have enough money to sell that plus combined to buy a new GPU. Yes it's going to be bottlenecked, but it will still be a better experience than your previous CPU and PC if you are upgrading from AM4 like a 5600 or some shit. You don't HAVE to buy it all at once and you don't HAVE to get the latest GPU.If anything its smarter to wait until RDNA5 comes out since a 9070xt is too weak for the 9800X3D, wait until the 9070xt goes on sale for $400. >>107853045Which variables are at play? It's a 850W for a 5070 TI + 7600X3D, that should be around 400W.
Get those cheaper 16GB VRAM cards while you can.
>>107853257all dimming features disabled it should not behave like thatsome monitors like LG has undefeatable CPC dimming and shit so I guess some brands have that shit hidden so you get vignetting and shitsome monitors are just bad with that>>107853258increasing scaling -> use more pixels to render object -> it can only look better because you are using more pixels to render it withyour logic does not make senseunless things are broken
>>107853310The panel's most likely overheating, so it's getting dimmer. He could try and get an RMA replacement to see if he had a unit with defective cooling.
>>107853310yes, having little bit more pixels than native 1440p is better, but it's not 4k. That's why you lose screen real-estate, because you're using fewer pixels when running it with scaling, as opposed to running it on native resolution
>>107852343Why not 5080?
>>107853205because you are using the resolution what you thought the pixels just disappear lmao
Are there any monitors with BFI functions? I'd really like a 5K2K monitor in the near future but 5K2K 240 Hz isn't realistic without DP2.1. The solution would be to just have the monitor do the strobing like LG TVs while the card feeds a 120 fps signal. Why hasn't LG implemented that on their monitors where there's most to gain?
>>107853341>but it's not 4k.>because you're using fewer pixels when running it with scaling, as opposed to running it on native resolutionjust because you choose to have an ui element 2x larger does not mean it's not 4kall objects will still be rendered at 4k and higher detail if you make things smaller4k videoswhat are you even trying to say here
>>107852410>>107852438>>107852604It just arrived. After calibrating it I don't notice any text issues. It looks very bright and clean in person. Before calibration there was some fringing and the whites were off.
>>107853390scaling means you're using less pixels, thus lower PPI and less screen real-estate also. If you take a photo with 24mp camera and zoom in 200% or 400%, you're no longer dealing with 24mp of resolution, now it's or 8mp or something, a problem you can fix with longer lens (or bigger screen).
>>107853292i wonder if we'll finally see people moving to 4k as a resolution on the steam hardware surveys as more videos about ultra performance and upscaling from 720p to 4k on dlss 4.5 happen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XWM6WPTPBc even the 5070 with 12gb of vram can handle 4k
>>107853396No amount of you coping will change that 27" 4k is not the monitor size most people would want to use. Even on 4k, 32" while is often recommended over 27", the ideal would be closer to 40"
>>107853437>2006+20>games still render at 720p
>>107853310>all dimming features disabled it should not behave like thatI feel like this is a retarded test but also it kind of validates my thoughtsI put them next to each other>all dimming turned off (actually the MSI still has some stuff turned on, like taskbar dimming)>duplicated monitor>AW at like 96 brightness, MSI at 75>took a picture with my phone, then used gimp colorpicker to comparesure, the phone camera will not capture it 100% correct but there IS a noticeable differencenot sure if smart or retarded butfor example this gray color on the rtings website is way darker on the AW, the red as wellI think I'm keeping the MSI>took a picture
I just built this last week, I have a micro center near me so I actually paid about $1300 for all of this. It's upgrade my 7th gen i5 and 1080.How did I do?Monitor is an LG 14" Ultrawide 1440p 144hrz.
>>107853366I've never got this either. 5080 is a pretty decent card.Sure, in terms of pure raster it's not as big of a jump over the 4080 as people hoped. But, it also RRP'd for less than the 4080 and has better performance in tensor applications.
>>107852961I was sorta planning on starting saving on money for a new gaming PC after I bought NS2 but now it's looking like PC prices are screwed for years at this point.
>>107853481We were always going back to 720p or lower the moment costumers and enterprise started fighting for the same silicon, i just hope it get to the point where its really good, we are pretty close but it really need better denoising so im holding my breath until i see ray reconstruction with the newer transformer model before finally getting a 4k display instead of a 1440p
>>107853525You got scammed. Those parts are worth 900$ at best.
>>107853525Decent for the total system cost.I don't think there's a clearly better build for a $1300 budget.
>>107853525>intel core ultra 7>2.4 GHz Isn’t that bad? why not get the unlocked one instead? they’re currently on sale at newegg
>>107853525You were better buying a $749 5070 ti than that overpriced 5070, even an asus prime model 5070 goes for $549 and has metal backplate and thermalpads on the memory chips that go on the back of the pcb
>>107853587The 265F can still boost past that 2.4GHz base clock, up to 5.3GHz.
>>107853587Newer Chipset and it made the MOBO free.>>107853595The 5070 was on sale for $400 which is why I went with it, no other card for even close to that price.Given this was more about the cost than the raw power. I wanted to buy before things went up even more. Also I have not put it all together yet and everything is still new in BOX, so I have about 13 days left to return if I want. If I see any better deal on anything I might.
>>107853505Sometimes the same model gets parts from different suppliers, maybe you can find someway to check if the panels are the same.

>>107853760That sounds rational. I'm not too retarded to build, I did my current one, and would prefer to do it again, but I do think we exist in an environment where somehow the sum of the parts costs less than the pieces alone, so its more a financial decision, the simplicity of open and go is a bonus.I'm not hard committed to a 5080, but superficial inquiries seem to say a 3080ti is on par with a 5070, and if im upgrading, I may as well whole hog it, especially on the big kahuna part. This was an initial product that ticked the right boxes though. Not sure where else to find good deal prebuilds than costco.

>>107853768Pretty much cyber punk HD maxed 4k. It's something to see even if you think the game sucks. Other than that DLSS is nice for cutting you power draw in half since most fags here think an extra $5 a month would be crippling.
>>107853800A 5070 is ~10-15% faster in raw performance, but also has generational improvements from DLSS to pull weight, 2x, 3x, 4x, and now 5x and 6x frame gen coming soon.A 5080 is ~60-70% faster in raw performance than your 3080Ti, and ALSO still has the DLSS/Framegen improvements.
>>107853795I seriously don't understand moddersHow can you install 50+ files and exes and bats from literally random people. Most of it is unchecked and you don't know what it does.
>>107853768You have the card, use super resolution (DLDSR) on the nvidia app panel to render 4k on your montior then set preset L and performance mode on a game and compare that to 1440p DLAA native, then go back here and post if you still think that
>>107853795?the point is that the game isn't good as a stability test for a CPU oc/uv. all these mods don't change that really.
>>107853836I don't care about that, I'm just saying KOTOR is still a great game that can look decent 23+ years later.
Do any of you use your Type C ports? What is this actually for?I just realized I've had my PC for years and never used it all lol.
>>107853858If that's on your monitor it could be any number of things. It could be USB-C with power delivery and displayport alternate mode so you can connect a laptop to your monitor and your laptop will be powered by the cable, and provide video to the monitor from the same cable. Some monitors also treat the USB-C port as the root port for the USB Hub/KVM (if your monitor supports such functions), though judging from the USB-B port there, that's probably the upstream USB port for the USB Hub/KVM. tldr; read your monitors manual, or tell us the monitor model and we might be able to tell you.
>>107853827That doesn’t answer my question, technically I get it, but what the purpose to extend the card lifespan?
That's the price sweet-spot for HDD size?
>>107853930Generally a few TB below the largest.16-24TB right now are usually the cheapest.Right now you're gonna be paying ~$19-24 per TB.I managed to snag a 22TB Toshiba MG10 for ~$430 a few weeks ago, $19.55/TB pre tax and ~$20.70/TB after taxes/shipping.

>>107853948Tons of stuff does, usually higher speed peripherals, my DAS uses USB-C (though only 10Gbps, the 20-40Gbps DASs are expensive).A lot of laptop peripherals are also USB-C now due to many laptop manufacturers ONLY putting USB-C ports on their laptops.
