Why did youngsters decide to ditch this website all of a sudden? It used to be THE social media website for the longest time but almost exclusively used by boomers these days.
>>

moms spying
>>
>>107852694
Their parents are on it. If you want to lose young users let their parents join.
>>
>>107852694
it started to become "uncool" and unc coded in the mid 2010s so in a sense the youngsters who were into it are just old now and new young people never got into it
>>
>>107852694
The combination of uncool oldsters piling in, and pre-LLM feed sloppification.

Any site that removes default chrono-sorting automatically signals that it's time to leave.
>>
>>107852694
Because their parents signed up. I remember switching talking with one of my friends in college on his page and his mom commented and said
>play nice you two
I think I deleted my Facebook that very day.
>>
Tried using it again. Sadly the moment i replied to someone asking about "no-break" voltage regulators brands, with the one i am currently using, it suspended my account citi g "community standards" and asked me for a selfie

Fuck that
>>

Similar story-
I was trying to create a new account there, I don't remember why but it had something to do with the Spotify mod app.
They legit ask for verification now, face and personal IDs and all that. I noped out.
>>
facebook was always an intelligence gathering operation. I have no idea how people didn't see this.

3 reasons:

1. Normiegram came along and everyone started posting their IRL pics & vids there.
2. Zuck pushed for heavy monetization on normiebook, so people got spammed in their feed with stuff that wasnt their friends contents, but instead ads or pages.
3. Zuck bought up Normiegram and just started doing the same there instead of fixing up Normiebook. Which is why Normiebook was left to rot and why Normiegram is starting to rot in the same way.

This. Every new generation is going to have its own big social media thing and then old people will get scared of young people having their own lingo and opinions and either shut it down or cripple it with old fartisms.
>>
>>107852857
Yep, this has happened to me 2 times already. First time, after 3 days they waived the selfie and asked me to change password

After that again i tried to post in a friends wall and now, they won't back down on the selfie thing. Deleted it, nothing of value was lost

2004, never got into it, the interface is shitty and the content is of no interest, why go on Facebook and get updated on the lives of people you don't care about?
There's nothing on Facebook, only time to be wasted, anywhere else is better, even on the centralized web at least reddit and discord have places centered on hobbies I might care about, Facebook is slop through and through
>>
>>107852872
>I have no idea how people didn't see this.
we just came out of the golden age internet, no one was thinking about enterprises debouring internet and spying or stealing data at that point, it was a different optimistic world not this dissapointing dystopia of today where everyone is paranoid
>>
>>107852941
Maybe because the normies heavily enforced that you had to be on normiebook otherwise you were a creepy freak so it was impossible to date or get a gf without one

That was the case around the early 2010’s anyway idk about today

I registered in 2005, never used it, deleted it a few years later. Not a fan of LifeLog lite by DARPA

Nowadays it's the same with Snapchat and Instagram, Facebook was the hot thing when I was still a middle schooler, they totally replaced it.
I'm into college now, I've entered the nerd space (educated people) and barely anyone uses Snapchat and Instagram. Everyone is on discord, we have a discord for the entire major and everything is organized for each subject for each year, important announcements are for everyone, you can just lurk no one will hold it against you.
First years still use Instagram though, but they fall off like flies because the major is tough as hell, proving that only dumbasses use Instagram or Snapchat.
>>
>>107853036
Is normiegram falling off or still King with the normies?

I heard its turning into AI slop house as well and people are posting less content
>>
>>107852694
I recently logged back on my account after more than 10 years and I was shocked by the amount of illegal/disturbing content you can find on the global search. There are some kind of groups that seem straight out from some hidden network. I've no idea how they allow such content lol.
>>
>>107853086
It's kind of fighting with TikTok, half the normies are on Instagram and the other half are on TikTok, they migrate using the current news, right now "Trump bad" so there are more TikTok users, but once "China bad" they'll come back to Instagram.
Is it falling off though? Not sure, I think it just has competition.
>>
>>107853243
Interesting, so they arent all 1 place? Thats how it was in the early 2010’s normiebook had total dominance
>>
>>107852694
they just wanted to do something different
its seen as an "old people" social media
because melenials and their moms are on it
>>
>>107853133
Are you trying to shill?
>>
>>107852694
>be in high school
>facebook becomes the new big new thing
>everyone is on there
>times goes on
>mom, dad, aunt, grandma... everyone is suddenly on there
>all young people leave
>>
>>107852694
Many things honestly
>You can get banned easily, and the bans last long
>Its a boring social media site
>Relentless AI stuff spam
>Feed changes when it refreshes, so you lose whatever thing you were watching
>Annoying ads
>It took em a while to add 2fa
>They got caught selling your data multiple times
>Their marketplace/dating center is full of retards and scammers
>Bloat in both messenger and facebook app
Younger people only keep facebook from the old
days, only to occasionally stalk on their friends and exes that they are not in touch anymore, and to speak to their boomer relatives. Only 40+ people are active users. The rest have moved on.
>>
>>107853527
And last but not least
>Kept asking for ID or to videocapture your face in order to verify your account way before ukstan started messing around with online censorship laws
>Contacting meta for help is useless as fuck
>>
Social media was fun because I could keep up to date with my friends. Now my feed is algoslop because people stopped posting because now their feed is algoslop.
The only people left using Facebook are 40+ year olds commenting on ragebait and AI trash
>>
>>107853779
freaky to think how little human-human engagement there is on the internet these days.
>>
>>107853779
I don't know how much of my nostalgia is tainted with childhood memories but I remember being a kid on Facebook and my friends would just post random stuff and their thoughts. That's all my feed ever was. Sometimes there would be pictures and maybe an announcement from a band or two but ragebait didn't exist and nobody was posting for attention or to try and grow a following.
>>
>>107852718
>>107852930
Their parents were probably already using it before the kids were born you thick pair of twats. Saying that, I'm 53 and I ditched it in 2012.
>>
>>107852694
when the UI changed
>>
>>107853890
You have to be 18 to post on this site, kid.
>>
In 2014 there was a wave of viruses that were taking over people's walls and posted random malicious stuff. I was mindlessly scrolling through facebook at work and suddenly actual CP loaded on the screen from someone's hacked account. I felt sick. Luckily no one saw my screen. Fuck facebook.
>>
>>107852694
Everyone moved to Instagram, and then Snapchat, as I remember it. I thought both were retarded gimmicks of a platform--Instagram especially.

Every single subsequent social media platform becomes more and more shit. I don't see any of them having much of any social aspect aside from posting about your "totally real, and not carefully presented" life. There's no meaningful interaction between users, nor any genuine expression of oneself. There are comments, but from what I've seen, everyone is retarded, without exception. Your average 4fag is an academic compared to the morons on normalfag social media. There's also the matter of TikTok, which is... self-explanatory.

The worse consequence of these social media platforms existing, is the fact that they've all consolidated some bastardized collective consciousness, which has dictated that Facebook-tier (LITERAL) old faggot humor is comedy gold. This has made its way to here. These faggots are just straight-up not funny.
>>
>>107854037
Instagram has arguably had the most staying power of all the major social media platforms, yet it turned into just what you described. It's a place to preform and post the best you, a perfect version of yourself.
Snapchat for a time filled the void of 'authenticity' with stories and photos that would often be unposed and off the cuff. Snap now has a reputation as being dated, creepy, and primarily used by perverts. Social media as it was 15, 20 years ago doesn't really exist any more. The closest thing kids have now are Discord servers which are closer to forums than traditional social media.
>>
>>107852694
Its too complicated. People want a place where you just post photos and that's what instagram is.
>>
>>107854070
>The closest thing kids have now are Discord servers which are closer to forums than traditional social media
The masses yearn for old-school forums. They've had their fill of dopamine. Younger Zoomers and Gen ayys (Idk if they've attained cognizance yet) fag about "le old Internet". Now's the best time to make a change for the better. Won't be the same; everyone who made it the way it was is elsewhere, but we can still make a positive change.

Here's hoping normalfags actually wise up to the implementation of real IDs for browsing platforms. I'm usually very cynical when it comes to normalfags, but thanks to word of mouth (thanks to the fact that no one can ever shut the fuck up on these platforms), the average person is now aware of privacy concerns. "Teh Joos are spying on us!". Let's just hope it isn't just performative like everything else they do.
>>
EU is implementing all these digital ID's my guess is Europe will develope some social media that requires digital ID verification with no AI slop and euro's will migrate there around 2030.
>>
>>107854210
>europe will develop
kek as if
buy one from abroad maybe
