How do I git gud at using one of these? I want to use it for financial calculations when I'm out for fun.>inb4 autismthis is /g/.I actually find the RPN worse than a normal calculator, I know it's supposed to be faster when you get good at it or something but it seems like it's just more key presses for the same calcuations. Did I fuck up and should I have gotten a 12C platinum??
>>107855235Find some boomers and get them to teach you, nobody here knows
>>107855235Start with this. There’s literally a whole book written on it.
>>107855235RTFM.https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00363319.pdf
>>107856430I've been reading it, I was just wondering if anyone had tips that would make it faster to learn
>>107856433Take an accounting class. Intro to Accounting is the only reason I own a 12C.
>>107857211I've been meaning to learn more about accounting actually, thanks
>>107855235not to indulge the use case meme unnecessarily, but you need to have a use case for the calculator to learn it well enough to use itfor example, i used it to calculate my interest and time to payoff on my student loans based on various frequencies of payment; it turned out that because interest compounded daily, i would pay significantly less in interest and pay the loans off sooner if i split my payment into two monthly payments instead of a single one (same overall amount, half the monthly total every 14 days)if you don't have loans and/or investments (e.g. T-bills, HYSAs, CDs, bonds, etc.), you might struggle to find a practical application for the calculator's more exotic features
>>107855235There's literally a handbook for this calculator anon. >>107856347>Equal key Not RPN, gross.
FX-115 Plus is a good one- deriv, integrals- can use on EE, ME- based verify mode to check truth value of equations
>>107855235It's literally a stack. Every value you "enter" you push on the stack. Every operation replaces the last two entries with the result. It's faster because you can chain operatives without having to enter stored values as they are already stored on the stack:1 + 2 + 3RPN: 1, 2, 3, +, +non-RPN: 1 + 2 = + 3 =
>>107857376I have loans to pay off as well. My use case is running calculations I would otherwise use a spreadsheet for, but when I'm not at the computer for whatever reason. I use spreadsheets to track and project my investments which include treasuries>>107857480I guess I'm comparing it to my fx-300es plus where I could just type 1+2+3+4+5+6 = and have the answer since it does kind of a natural expression thing or whatever they call it. It can even set up tables but it can't do the sort of financial calculations the 12C can.
>>107857490no need for a =
>>107857490if you have loans and investments, it's just a matter of looking at the examples in the manual, figuring out the mechanics of making the calculations you need, and inputting your own figures
