>tfw still have my DDR3 RAM sticks somewhere I hope you didn't plan on buying/upgrading your PC in this decade.
A 16GB kit of DDR5, which is plenty for 90% of people, is $250. That's a few days of fast food work, or maybe a day and a half of a regular job, for something that will last for thousands if not tens of thousands of hours.Literally how broke are people actually?
>>107861318I don't think I even paid 250 USD for my 32GB of DDR3 lol.
>>107861232Already did.
>>107861318The kit I bought for 114€ is 576€ right now.
>>107861318Found the rich jew.
>>107861359i paid 130€ for 64gb ddr4 last year
>>107861318>Literally how broke are people actually? Is anyone going to tell him how much debt the average American is in and how much is in their savings account?
>>107861400Sure but I bought 32GB of DDR3 in 2014 back when it was a lot.
>>107861318>16GB kit of DDR5, which is plenty for 90% of peopleFuck you.
>>107861318>Literally how broke are people actually?waitfags lose again>>107861400friend of mine likes to buy high end mobos and max them out later on, he's now on 128GB of ddr4. he doesn't always get lucky, but when he is it always feels uncanny, he bought the ram and the best cpu for his mobo just recently
>>107861406apparently everyone here makes 300k a year and has a 24 inch cock. the regular plebs have bills to pay that consume most of their income
>>107861412The only people needing more than 16GB are professional video editors.>fuck youGreat argument retard.
>>107861472>The only people needing more than 16GB are professional video editors.-- or windows/chrome users
>>107861232about that... we "consummers" as a whole should use openia for monopoly moves pretty sure that shit has to be illegal, no idea how mobile, videogames, consoles and pc builders aren't fucking complaining about thus, imagine all of them united in a big fuck you finger suing case against openai nvidia and the mem manufacturers
>>107861318>$250 for half rank garbageLOL
>>107861710It literally doesn't matter. RAM speeds have never been the bottleneck in personal computers, for at least 20 years, if not all of computing history.
>>1078612328350 chuds rise up
>>107861232I've been hoarding(being too lazy to sell) a z97 motherboard with i5 broadwell, think it'll increase in value due to shortages?
>>107861232I have like 2 terabytes of DDR3 pulled from e-waste lmao
>>107861406Savings accounts stopped existing April 2020 no joke.
>>107861318I paid less than that for 128GB of RAM early 2025 you engagement baiting piece of shit, hope you choke on your (you) you dumb bitch
>>107861973Wow and 99% of the time you are using 15% or less of that RAM.Greed and wastefulness are not virtues.

>>107861232THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO DOZ RETARDS.THEY DON'T WANT YOU HAVING ACCESS TO HIGH TIER TECH. >>107861472What nonsense, I'm guessing you use a tty over serial and compile your code with `cat` also?I can buy 16GB being enough for "90% of people" who just pay to have whatever they're using run on "the cloud", but this is just sheer bullshit.
>>107861998>implying I bought a 128GB kit and not maybe sixteen 8GB kits, eight 16GB kits, four 32GB kits or two 64GB kitsNone of your concern you double plus one dumbass, you're not here to police people's purchases.
>>107861873oh they certainly have, but more like 30+ years ago
>>107862036>you're not here to police people's purchasesYou're right, I'll let the chip manufacturers do it, because you still won't do shit.
>>107862016Despite your insane, schizo rambling.... You're not wrong
>>107862070schizos is just the name normalfags give to those who have resisted becoming a normalfag; prove me wrong
>>107862088You've apparently never ran into the Artifact 2 schizo on /v/, or Eric on /v/, or an arch user on /g/.
>>107861232What's the most capable cpu compatible ddr3 ram?Something like Xeon e5 2678v3?
>>107862291The most compliant thing for you is to rope yourself for being a compliant little NPC
>>107861318>few days of fast food workWhat about the rent and bills to pay, dumb ass?
>>107861951Now is the time to capitalise on all those 1GB sticks
>>107862016can ddr3 run modern sites filled with js bloat though?
>>107862398Why are you buying desktop computer components in the first place?
>>107862421NTA, but no. It can't shut newer than 2020. There is a reason no one uses it anymore.
>years of good ram prices>suddenly it spikes>OMG I MUST BUY RAM RIGHT NOW DURING THE SPIKE MY LIFE IS GOING TO END FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I MUST BUY RAM NOWLiterally woman tier toilet paper brains on this board.
>>107861232No it isn’t.
>>107862542It's like people have conditioned themselves into a feedback loop where higher prices are signals to buy.Literally the opposite of any rational financial decision.
>>107862414Nah they're all +4GB, including 256G in 16G sticks from maxed out powermacs
>>107862549Not him, but yeah, he's right.
>>107861318I bought 16 GB of RAM back in 2010 and I remember it was almost exactly $100 CAD including tax. It’s not getting cheaper. It’s funny, I figured with the supposed “miniaturization” of things, it would be getting cheaper, but its price is profiteering/artificial/collusion or they are getting stupider and technical knowledge is actually going downhill.
>>107862153or that homeless guy at the bus stop who told me that snowflakes are microchips from God
>>107862610People are far more sheep brained and stupidity is at an all time high. >Apple sheep lining up around the block for the same phone they have in their pocket>Ninpedos spending $120 on a Bing Bing Wahoo REMAKE without batting an eye>NPCs buying "things" that are en vogue because TikTok told them they're not cool unless they have it>Sheep flocking to buy the FOTM due to FOMO>NPCs buying $2500 vNvidia cards because they're "supposed" toAs for tech literacy... You really have no idea how genuinely stupid the average person is, do you?
>>107861383>4080>ventuswhy is this a thing? why you bought one?
>>107862640The nVidia thing is arguable depending on what you're doing with it. If all you're doing is shit posting and gaming, then you don't need a $2500 card. But, for me, I am getting into AI pretty hard. I have an AMD card and while I can use ROCm, I'm really limited in models and the finished quality isn't the best. I am going to have to bite the bullet and get an nVidia card. AMD is actually pretty great for daily use and gaming, but it just can't compete with nVidia for AI.
