It may shorten the lifespan of fans (even though the fans are stressed the most when they start), but replacing fans is cheaper than replacing the gpu chip/vram.

I mean, I lliterally use CUDA every day for things like Blender. I don't give a fuck about companies at all. I just use what gives me the best experience. My plex server uses an intel for transcoding, my music pc and gaming pc use AMD 3950 and 9950's for processing power, and my gpu's are nvidia for CUDA rendering in Blender. I could go on and on for other things as well, my cyberdeck uses an old framework intel SBC, my main emulator I take to bars and phone use ARM, my emulation PC uses I think a i9-9900k I got for free fixing someones computer and I own a PS5 and Switch. I'm going to cope and say the current house of cards isn't going to last forever, though the fact they are all using highly specialized hardware for AI/Datacenter means we won't get any trickle down for consumers, and prices will remain high for a while, though lower than any peaks we might have. 10 bucks a gig of memory might just be "the new normal" for however long.
