How many times is VR going to be pushed only to fail and then eventually be pushed again?
>>107867838As many times there are iterative improvements in VR hardware
>>107867838it's a cool gimmick, but that's all it is. Aside from comfort issues, our brains just don't like getting condtradictory signals from different senses, so unless that can be somehow fixed, it'll never work. And that'd probably take implanting shit directly into the brain.
>>107868921Cutting edge hardware is at a point where it is just about good enough ppd wise in a small form factor albeit still expensive as fuck (meganex 2 & pimax dream air). Software is lagging behind. Not much shit leveraging eye tracking for foveated rendering, and high budget content at the level of HL Alyx is not worth making due to the cost of the all the hardware needed to play it with good image quality.I am mostly using VR for space sims currently, but even there I prefer to use an OLED monitor with Tobii head/eye tracking. Roomscale has some shit I go back to for a bit once in a blue moon but nothing really hooked me besides cockpit sims.I am hopeful that Big screen beyond 2 will be comfortable to use for long sessions especially with the flip up NVG style halo strap. But even the latest higher ppd models coming out in the high end still have a lot of compromises after all these years. PC parts costing a fortune adds insult to injury.
>>107867838It’s great in concept honestly if the tech was just much lighter it’d take off. Oculus is awesome Apple VP is so unbelievably shit it’s unreal. Probably the biggest Apple flop of the last decade. Insane price point, awkward battery pack, completely useless for games…
