I needed to modify someones github project to work with something I had so after like 10+ years of not programming, I was a bit out of touch. So I decided to vibe code to get my barrings again and help me along and honestly it was enjoyable.

but I know if I remembered how to do most shit myself I would have preferred to just do it myself.
>>
I do but I only gen simple code I can read and understand back for basic scripting.

Yes because I’m not a codetranny luddite
>>
Yes, 10 years software engineer and I hated vibecoding and vibe coders until Opus 4.5 came out. It can oneshot anything I give it as long as I first make it create a plan. Built a pipeline to fully automate my soft eng job and now I just code review for 1 hour a day. Great times we live in

yes. i'm not, not ever have been a coder, but i can read enough python, c and webshit to get by.
gemini cli with conductor just werks. i just get it to make dumb things for me that i would have never done otherwise.

I've been trying. I want to. it just doesn't work. it is entirely possible that I just don't know what I'm doing. it is also possible that the people that say it works for them are just easily impressed idiots
I really want to look personally at those insane 1000x productivity gains people are claiming in a project or domain I'm familiar with
so far no one in my team is vibe coding anything interesting. a few are doing experiments to please the managers that are constantly asking us for examples of AI use, but no one is using it in actual work beyond one-shot scripts and slightly better auto-complete
when I get to review some genuinely good vibe code, I'll believe it

unfortunately most retards using ai shit to generate code seem to only use the first results they're given - which is usually inefficient. they don't bother asking any more questions or get any info on what they're programming. copy/paste: pray that it works. and the code is usually trash. if you want to catch people out vibecoding, ask these faggots to explain the function they're using or how whatever library works. if they can't answer those questions at all: they're fucked.

I am a poor phd student, I finished my research internship where I had infinite access to opus 4.5 thinking which felt amazing. I am now back on my own with no access to anything, what's the most vfm way to vibe code atm? Looking for hacks like using a Claude web subscription to code or GLM 4.7 maybe?

the end-user of vibe coded software is usually 1 person: the person who vibe coded it.
this is the real value of software like this: very custom software for people who would otherwise never been able to do it themselves, or ever pay for it.
they don't care about how well coded or efficient the thing is as long as it runs. many of them have probably never heard of refactoring.
more and more people will do this this year, and the quality of code will continue to improve. in a few years people won't even realise they're asking for custom software - they'll just ask to do things and the vibe coding will just happen.

just use lmarena anon. way to go.

to be honest, i like glm more than claude. you will know, when you compare both (web baseb).

i'm been using glm long enough. i like them more. before i use chatgpt, then copilot, then deepseek, since i knew glm. i not moving to any other.
>>
>>107869572
opencode has free models that rotate in and out. glm 4.7 was there, but not sure if it's still there after launch.
>>
>>107869603
Yeah, this is my usage of it. I have hundreds of little scripts that do random shit that would have been annoying to figure out otherwise. Most like conversion into specific templates or it will do conversion plus some other thing that saves more time. I also have a lot of automation I built for my non-tech job to make my job a million times easier.
>>
>>107869643
I don't mind paying for GLM, 20 bucks a year is more than fine. I was thinking of using my existing web based subscriptions (chatgpt, gemini, can swap one of them for Claude) to use Claude to code somehow (there has to be a way by copying some cookie). I heavily prefer IDEs (cursor etc) rather than clis.

What a fucking cope. It's like letting a 5-year old push a button on a machine so he feels important. It's the LLM writing the code, not you.
>>
>>107869679
both your chatgpt and gemini subs would give you access to codex and gemini cli - opencode would also work with chatgpt auth, not sure about goog.

google's antigravity will also work with your current sub and even has some opus / sonnet usage. i think there's a github repo out there that lets you proxy this and use that quota via claude code. that said, anthropic are starting to close things down a bit, so no guarantee how long the hacks will last.
>>
>>107869486
Yeah I have the same experience. I only really tried it with my niche autistic gamemodding shit but even the current best models can't get anything right beyond the basics. I wonder what all these people are using it for

great for web frontends and basic simple questions on shit to search questions
worthless on anything else outside of giving juniors in cybersecurity jobs due to the onslaught of unsecured backends and outdated shitware libraries with 5000 exploits

yup. pic-related is a thing that checks my usual places for new music, does searches, finds links and just give me a nice music player interface so i don't have to spend x number of minutes every day doing a bunch of searches and visiting a dozen bandcamps and yotube music pages.
is it ever going to be useful to anyone else? nope.
will it save me hours of tedious shit this year? hell yes.
>>
>>107869138
no since i'm not programming tutorial level stuff
>>
I just use ChatGPT and Gemini's web intetfaces and copy paste. But, I'm probably going to start trying to get autonomous agents going. I tried geminucli with the free model and it was a bit shit. I had to hand hold it. But that is a weak model. I also need to set up the planner, worker, reviewer pattern. So they reviewer could detect if the worker is stuck and ask the planner to come up with a better plan, that sort of thing. I want to get this running on my phone too... I guess ssh from phone to tmux is the typical way.
>>
>>107869138
I tried it a couple it works great when there are a couple similar project on github so it can distill their core mechanic and create some kind of mixed monster. It doesn't fit into my style though and reasoning about it is hard because I still need to modify it. Also tried numerical simulations things that aren't on github or at lesat have zero documentation it produces a lot of bullshit with that. For example membrane deflection with local stiffness via fenics-python never worked I tried all models. I do hate the vscode ide and the other shit it eats too much ram.
