Why did people hate it?
>>107873320Only poor people hated Vista.
>>107873320Daily baby duck thread brought to you by zoomer brainrot and low engagement cash bots.
>>107873320because it's initial launch fucking sucked ass and nothing fucking worked on itit eventually became pretty good though
They didn't know how much worse things would get.
>>107873320every other major version of windows is ass, punctuated by a tolerable or even decent release
>>107873320came preinstalled on 256mb ram laptops when it required a bare minimum of 1gb to function and 2gb was preferred
>>107873320because it ran like shit and constantly made you click okay on some UAC pop up for the most minor shit
>>107873320Vista was the death of computing.
>>107873397This. It got a lot better but by then 7 was eventually coming out so it kinda became redundant. Vista was the OS I chose when I did my first PC build and I don't really regret.
>>107873472>constantly made you click okay on some UAC pop upcoming from xp and before this was absolute unprovoked sexual harassment
>>107873383>word saladmeds, now.

>>107873320Because it was shipped on underpowered hardware that made it run like ass. If you had the hardware to run it, it was unironically pretty good. Honestly not THAT different from 7.
>>107874999The fucking PTSD this image triggered
>>107873320Mainly because they rushed Vista out too quick and it was unstable. My brand new vista machine back in 2007 had this issue where the display driver would stop and restart every 45 minutes. Nobody made good drivers for Vista.Windows 7 is just Vista but with 3 extra years of development put into it and it was perfect. Windows 7 does everything Vista does but more stable and while using less system resources.Interestingly enough Windows 8.1 would be the next Vistalike with shit driver support.
>Windows Vista final release 2 days agowat
>>107873320Too powerful for the hardware of the laptops that it came on. Desktops were fine, but most people tried to upgrade their windows xp rigs to vista which definitely was underpowered. But me personally, I hated it because they removed EAX and Sidewinder support and it felt like they were adding bloat to make the OS look pretty when it didn't matter because I was only on the computer to play games. So why would I give a shit about a pretty OS?Nowadays with 2014 hardware, it's not a bad OS. It does serve a good middle ground for game support between XP and 7. But, I'd rather just have 32 bit Windows XP for that 16 bit emulator for things such as the Need For Speed installers and the EAX/Sidewinder support out of the box.
