Horizontal or vertical tab layout?
>>

>there's more vertical than horizontal space on regular computer monitors
>horizontal tabs are more popular
what explains this phenomenon?

with 1392:2 aspect ratios, one would think vertical would finally be justified, but the distance to the horizontal tabs is on average shorter, so horz is still king

>1392:2 aspect ratios
Are you having a stroke?

vertical tabs take too much space.
I almost never need to have more than eight tabs open, and it all fits in the horizontal bar.
>>
>>107884068
it's called exaggeration, autist

>vertical tabs take too much space.
Not if you auto-hide the pane
>>
Since I have usually around 300 tabs open, vertical is only way to go.
>>
Once you go vertical, you don't go back. Firefox lags a bit behind with them, but we have Zen now.

I stopped using Arc browser when it started having bugs, and less than a year later, Atlassian bought it.

I admit that it has the best vertical tabs ever developed.
>>

I tried vertical and I went back. It made sense on paper but in practice it's actually less space for tabs
I guess on paper it doesnt make sense too come to think of it, no shit there's less space vertically than horizontally.

Vertical tabs COULD work if you could tab stack and if you had more customization in it's layout but no browser really offered that. Hell no browser ever had horizontal tab stacking, I had to use some janky Vivaldi css just to get that feature.

Vertical with auto-hide.

If I'm on anything below 1440p then vertical, if I'm on anything past 1440p then horizontal.
>>
>>107884395
Uh what if you're on 1440p...

? what kind of a sideways monitor are you using

Vertical wastes more space when you have few tabs. But I keep mine collapsed most of the time, and if you have many tabs you can see more of them in full display.
>>
>>107884566
You don't really need to see tabs in full display, just the favicon and enough of the text to identify is all you need
>>
>>107884208
the fuck is the difference between pinned and favorites?
>>107884566
screens are not square
>>
>>107884189
nope, it's not a square or even close to one.>>if you have many tabs you can see more of them in full display.
This is false on all monitors with aspect ratios that aren't 1:0 (or are perfect squares).
