I used Linux Mint on bare metal for several months before going back to Windows because I needed something that did not work on Wine.Now I no longer need that shit so I am read to back to Linux.Should I keep using Mint or take the next step to a distro that's more advanced? What even is the next step after Mint?

>>107888928I would say choose a distro with a minimal installer and a package manager/release cycle that you like. That is the next logical upgrade to something like mint. IMO it is the best way to have almost exactly the system that you want with nothing more and nothing less, whilst also not being a huge time sink like LFS or Gentoo.
