most sci-fi books and entertainment show future as a bustling mega cities of people working , living and going on their days like it's 20th century. But why would we live in dense large cities when there'll be no need for office space, hotels for business travelers and restaurants to please workers.Won't future just be villas and resorts of rich people being served by robots and leading hedonistic lifestyle after culling majority of humanity via a virus made by their god like AI. There won't be a need for pilots , engineers , programmers or soldiers when it can all be automated the future will probably just end up with us living hedonistic lifestyles while robots do work.
>>107895900>most sci-fi books and entertainment show future as a bustling mega cities of people working , living and going on their days like it's 20th century.its literally reality bro i work in an office in a fairly dense city>>But why would we live in dense large cities when there'll be no need for office space, hotels for business travelers and restaurants to please workers.network effect, same reason sillicon valley exists and why many industries have 'hubs' where a lot of shit related to said industry is on one place. stuff you need/want being close together helps businesses succeed and move faster even if the rent/cost of living is more expensive.>Won't future just be villas and resorts of rich people being served by robots and leading hedonistic lifestyle after culling majority of humanity via a virus made by their god like AI.ultra rich already have villas and are starting to use service robots. as for trying to 'cull' people that would be retarded for anyone especially a rich person to try and generally people dont get to incredible wealth like that while being schizo/genocidal.>>There won't be a need for pilots , engineers , programmers or soldiers when it can all be automated the future will probably just end up with us living hedonistic lifestyles while robots do work.pilots maybe no, as for engineers and programmers we will need those forever in one form or another. you can live a hedonistic lifestyle if you're rich, rentseeking, living off financial investments or own said working robots but most people will still need to work because they dont have those things.
>>107895971>pilots maybe no, as for engineers and programmers we will need those forever in one form or another. Why would engineers or scientists still be an existing field if most of work would be done by AI and seniority wouldn't hire juniors to train them creating a field where young never get experience. Why would humans still be needed
>>107896051we have no idea if AI is even possible, if it's achievable in our lifetime and if it is if it will be useful to us.and even if AI is achieved and can run robots that do everything the people who own it want the other people who dont own ai and robots still require goods and services which other people can provide.scientists will always be needed to advance the frontier of science, answer the many questions which we dont have answers for yet. ai could be a tool to help that but if there's no one operating the tool it wont give us anything useful or interesting.
>>107895900>will probably just end up with us living hedonistic lifestyles>usAnon...I...ahhh....oh. Well, nevermind. Here, OP, have a picture of the future. It will be just like that and you will be so safe and comfy.
>>107896101>we have no idea if AI is even possibleAI is possible, there's not much of a reason for a debate as to that. Maybe it's not realistically feasible, maybe it needs to be biological. There are a lot of maybes but there is nothing stopping it from being possible. If humans will succeed in creating AI, now that's a very different question.
>>107897826you're right its definetly possible what i should have said is>we dont know if a reliably-useful-to-humans AI is possiblei think it is but there's probably many ways to fuck it up and very few to get it right
>>107897922Yeah, but it won't come from the Californian techbros. They can only think of AI as enslaved god, not as companion homunculus.
>>107895971>people dont get to incredible wealth like that while being schizo/genocidal.>be born into rich family>happen to be a schizoAre you saying this can't happen?
>>107896051>Why would humans still be neededTo stave off the Butlerian Jihad.
>>107898411They're not schizo. They're respected leaders in the Federal Government!
>>107898411not really the top wealthiest are all self made (or women that were married to them)
>>107895900Those rich people need a slave class to be humiliated and dehumanized. Some of them might be content with sex and drugs, but most of them need to need other humans suffer. The masses will never go away, they will just find a different mechanism for enslavement and suffering.
