Lets's settle this once and for allWhich was the last good ThinkPad?Was it T480 from 2018 for T series, because the next model wasn't as upradeable (I think?)?Was it X270 from 2017, because it was last model from X series with removable battery or do we need to go deeper?

>>107902578When I bought my last thinkpad in 2013, everyone insisted x/t400 was the last good thinkpad, you people have no taste.I've moved on since then, I don't buy laptops that have active cooling or are missing USB-PD, anything made before USB-PD feels absolutely ancient in comparison.
>>107902578T420 or X220
I have a t14 g5 and I know it's way too modern for you fags but I got it used for $600 and I love it.
>>107902578What generation post-T480 does the T-series have the same or better battery life than the T480 with both batteries maxed out? Whichever one that is, I'll wait for that to come down in price.
>>107902720>active coolingcan be turned off. Is the default on battery power even>usb pdrecent thinkpads have that
recent macs don't
>>107902578I'm use a t16 gen4 for my work that they sent me. MDM is enabled, so just for work.
>>107903082you realize barcodes are the same thickness from top to bottom. So if cou censor only part you can read the entire thingim 8 beers deep and i know this come on retard-kun
>>107902833>T420 or X220This. But don't forget the W520.
>>107903108You are a junkie
>>107902834I just don't like that they removed the thinklight and added backlights to the keyboards. I'm willing to sacrifice stiffness for thinness and it's not a dealbreaker. I'm considering a t14 gen2 for $200. But it is infuriating.
t420t430s if you want a little somethin extra, but it's gonna break
>>107902578A modded T430
>>107902578>Filename
>>107903327It's $100 just to upgrade to an ips and then at least $40 for an ssd. You can just get a used 2021 stinkpad for $200 that already has those with more cores and faster processor and faster ram and better igpu. It's a complete waste of money.
>>107903378I spent 400€ in total on my T430 years ago, and I've never been happier that I did. It's absolutely carrying me through engineering uni, the value I'm getting out of it is insane.I care a lot more about a good keyboard, screen, ports, ruggedness, aesthetics, etc, than any horsepower, for which I already own a desktop tower. A T430 was an ideal platform for me to build the laptop I want to use to 2030's and beyond, with no copilot buttons, ""designed"" non-beveled ISO keyboards, or ballooning non-replaceable internal batteries.Every day I watch smugly and in slight horror as my classmates cope with their cucked nu-laptops. I will never agree to own one, not until I can afford something at least as uncompromising as my custom-built T430.And when that day comes, I won't toss my T430 like you'd toss any nu-laptop, a modded T430 is a beautiful, notable, even a historic machine, something I will find joy in owning for the rest of my life.
>>107903753I have a t420s and just looked into doing the ips screen swap and it is obviously not worth the money to me.
>>107902578Last good Thinkpad is whatever the latest workstation powerhouse P16 or whatever is available, maxed out on all specs (especially RAM). Why? Because you're a poorfag poojeet who can't afford it so you make these and "you need more?" cope threads! Suck it loser!
>>107903784Yes it's expensive. I went the extra mile and hunted down the N140HCE-EN1, and that with the adapter was 150€. But if that's the price to get a laptop that I wont hate owning, so be it. I'm sick and tired of cucking myself with poorfag price/performance mentality. My keyboard is also the Liteon/NMB 45N2211 with multicolor domes. I have a pair of them even, the other completely unused - once it's time to retire the laptop, I can swap in the looking one and have the laptop look pristine again.

>>107903873I'd rather just have faster memory and a better cpu/igpu on top of a smaller form factor.
>>107902578That is a really hard question.T480, fully loaded (i7, 32+GB memory, 2242 SSD + 2280 or SATA SSD, magnesium cover, good screen), and with a modded T25 keyboard, is the goat! But the T480 is not perfect, like only having an internal SSD with 2 PCIe lanes. But the bridge battery and 2 SSD support and full 2.5in SATA support is very nice. 2 memory slots is great, but only at 22400 MHz, which is slow for today's standard. The webcam is trash, but the 400+ nit screens from the T490+/X1C gen 7 are nice though. Last good keyboard, I think 1.8 mm travel. The T440p holds up longer, I think. They are both barely holding up in 2026, but I think they need to be replaced at almost the same time. For now they are ok, but time will tell how long they keep chugging along.
>>107902578The latest one.Processing speed trumps all.
all these newfags talking about chinese trash with no mention of ibm
>>107905172All the T series including the IBM era are chinese trash.T30 ram slot could die for no reason.
