Also, side note.

I can confirm it takes ~1 month for 4chan to stop doing the multi-image captcha verification.

I was on single image verification until I got my new PC on December 18th. Then I was back to doing 3-picture verification.
Then a week or two ago it switched to 2-picture verification, then last night (around the same time I finished building my PC 1 month earlier) it switched to just single image verification.

So 1 whole month of posting to get back to "easy" captchas.

single die ryzen (their apus for example) + nvidia gpu
single die intel 14th or 13th gen + nvidia gpu
when it comes to idle power consumption that is. prob some i5 + 5060ti/ 5070ti with an undervolt and some tuning. no spinning rust. matx or itx board. a single fan cpu cooler. case without lights. low temps (high temps increase power consumption). i think ltt did a video on that but it is kinda outdated for specs.
>>
>>107911342
RTX 5080 alone is ~15W idle with a single 60hz monitor, and ~20-25W for high refresh rate, and 40-60W for multi-monitor high refresh rate idle power draw.

oh yeah a small die nvidia gpu is ideal. smth like the one from the 5070ti or 5080 would fit the bill. the bigger ones have a higer power consumption at idle. my brothers 3060 12gb for example pulls like 11w with two monitors connected. one is a 1440p 144hz screen.

i just wanted to provide some context. i didn't want to say that all ryzen cpus can't be used but intel is def king with their single die monolithic cpu design when it comes to idle power consumption. i like my 7800x3d but 40w on the desktop is smth else.
>>no spinning rust
>Hehe, shame
they add like 10 to 15w when they spin. so it's not really worth it and anyone would just stop them from spinning down. i think a founders nvidia gpu is also prob smth good since the board partner cards often have higher idel power consumption. i also think corsair has a pus that has stupid levels of effisensy arround the whole power range. a lot of people who build effisent servers use them.

Be aware that SeaSonic will be releasing new Prime PSUs with safer GPU protection features.
I wouldn't spend $400~500 when a safer PSU design will be out, even if it takes 1~2 years to release.
Even the mainstream Seasonic Focus 1000W should be good enough to safely power a 5090.

>>
>>107911633
anon, your motherboard ALSO uses power to power the SATA lanes. When your drives actually go to sleep (not just idle but still active) then your motherboard can put the SATA controller to sleep as well.

Also, those power meter thingies are reading power draw from the wall, you're including your PSU's inefficiency in your calculation, and your PSU is probably only ~85-90% effieicnt. So your numbers are inflated from that as well.

If I were to guess, ~10W is the SATA controller and chipset, ~8-12W for the HDDs, and then the remainder is just your PSU not being 100% efficient.

It's not about the yellow connector, the thermal protection thermistor shilled by ASRock is measuring the ground pin's temperature when the overheating +12V pins cause the connector to melt.
The overtemperature warning kicks in too late.
You could argue it's better than nothing, but I'd rather get a different high-end PSU and install everything properly.

>wanted to buy a 40/50 series gpu
>remember mfg and the 12vhfr connector exists
Why didn't I buy a fucking 3090...
>>
>>107912071
3090s have a higher likelihood of randomly dying; there's a reason why the 3090 Ti got substantial power delivery design changes.
NVIDIA's decision to use two cheaper voltage controllers for the 3090 and 3080/Ti causes one of the DrMOS to die from all the transient overcurrent spikes.
GPU repairers are not even surprised to see these cards with a blown DrMOS at this point.
>>
>>107912151
i should've bought a 3090 upon release before the covid era shortage but it has a massive PSU requirement and I didn't want to buy a new PSU, thus got cucked, in retrospect a release 3090 would've been the highest value even to this day
>>
>>107912172
>i should've bought a 3090 upon release
No, I told you these have a power design flaw.
NorthwestRepair uploaded a 3090 Ventus repair video with a blown DrMOS two days ago.
I wasn't even searching for this specific repair video.
https://youtu.be/QV_12agqNOg?t=193

The worst part about this power delivery flaw is that you can't completely avoid it even with overbuilt VRMs.
There are plenty of dead Strix, Suprim, and Aorus Master 3090s with a dead DrMOS.
>>
>>107912151
I read about this before buying my 3080 a couple years ago during the shortage and i was desperate at the time because I needed a new GPU and didnt want to settle for a weak card. Mine has been fine paired with a 750w PSU, which i went out of the way to get for that specific reason. I've also undervolted it, so fingers crossed. It only needs to last another year or so till the 60 series which is when I'll next upgrade.
>>
>>107912071
You're a double dumbass.
>>
>>107912151
3090 Ti's design should have been standard but I guess NVIDIA was too cheap for basic shit like current balancing and adding more shunt resistors like they used to. The WORST part is that even Astral GPUs dont solve the problem because the PCB is still virtually unmodified because NVIDIA is fucking insane and won't let AIBs fix it.
>>
>>107912238
Maybe it's less likely, but AIBs can only add more phases to the board to increase the card's maximum power load.
The 3090 Ti arguably has the safest board design.

Undervolting and power-limiting the 3080 to around 250~280W should dampen the current spikes the VRM has to take.

A variety of games like New World, Diablo 4, World of Warships, etc., were exposing the flaws of these cards at uncapped frame rates.
Some developers added a maximum FPS limit in their game's lobby because they didn't want the bad publicity of their product "killing" video cards.

DLSS 4.5 killed RDNA4, their biggest shill conceding the even DLSS 4 performance mode was better than FSR4 quality was probably too much for them to handle

I generally use much less power than that even at 4K with DLSS. It's a great card though. Absolute champ for the price. Monster performance for 4K gaming 5 years later.

I really should have bought last month
fucking hell
900€ for even the shittiest 5070ti now

if you slice that 5050 die just right, you can get two great 4Gb RTX cards from it. So, things aren't all bad...

So where are the retards that were saying RAM prices were ALREADY falling last week and GPUs would be following in the coming days?

AMD's gaming group will order fewer GDDR6 chips for Radeon cards if that helps Sony buy millions of 6nm PS5 & Pro AMD SoCs.
The memory shortage will affect all GPU brands.

Anything extra worth buying for PC? Like I mean for internal
I'm buying one of these and wondering now
Maybe I should get a networking card then I'd have two Ethernet ports
>>
Honestly I'm starting to be pretty okay with the death of local compute
Every day I become more aware that 99% of things you do with powerful PC hardware in your own home are degenerate
Computers should be for work and nothing else

Check whether AOC provides user-upgradeable firmware updates for that monitor.

what if they just made gpus with socketed ram, would it solve anything

Unless you plan on running your PC as a router, what's the point?

My only real issue with cloud computing is that it's in the hands of the same companies that want to shovel infinite AI slop down your throat

you need dsc for displayport but not hdmi

went from a 3080 to 5070 ti because of the incoming shortages. seems a bit of an underwhelming upgrade but what can you do. was going to get the 5080 but it would've cost 40% more lol

You're a huge faggot. Just go become fertilizer you insufferable asshole.

Lest this faggot farms for you (You)s don't reply to this stupid short sighted cunt.

The choice to focus on the most popular and lowest-cost SKUs (the 8GB and 12GB cards) is the best thing for the vast majority of consumers. It's very unfortunate for enthusiasts like us, who want and are willing to pay for higher-tier cards with more VRAM. But we are a small minority of the market. Nvidia has to make tough decisions about where to allocate their limited supply of chips and VRAM, and focusing on the most popular cards ensures that GPUs get to the most people possible.
