Does anyone else hate modern YouTube? I miss the times when the YouTube homepage wasn't a fucking feed but just the latest videos from your subscriptions. While the "Browse" button ('member that?) at the top would take you to the page with all the viral videos from across the world.

But now, being on YouTube feels like you're hooked onto some kind of drug, because the algorithm tracks your viewing habits and patterns and fills your feed with videos that will keep you endlessly watching one video after another, and by the end of the day you feel like your brain literally rotted a bit from mindlessly consooming bullshit content you didn't need or ask for.

Not to mention, they way YouTube videos themselves are produced these days seems like they're specifically designed to induce anxiety and break your mind from over-stimulation.

It's a shame that most of the alternatives are basically just garbage full of crypto scams.

>Does anyone else hate modern YouTube?
Nope, I disabled all history options and use a YouTube Neuter filter-list for uBO.
And with that just watch things via the Subscriptions tab, if I have to search I just use before:X after:X during:X tags for better results.
0 issues, 0 slop, just pure content that I want, pretty much the same website it always was, but now with extra 2 hoops to run around before indulging.

just use a 3rd party client retard
newpipe, invidious, piped, revanced, libretube, smarttube next, grayjay or just fucking yt-dlp
pick one at random and stop using the fucking cancerous website/account system
>>

I use unhook to disable a bunch of youtube features, but it ends being more like handicapping the website and not give a better experience, because the subscription youtube has now is a jumbled mess.
>>107913572
Thanks for that list. I'll use one of those of those from now on. I'm done with vanilla youtube.

I like it more now because it makes infantile nostalgiazoomgroids seethe.

>youtube makes the site annoying enough that id be willing to pay money to make it more usable
>15€ a month to not be annoyed as much

so the only solution is using youtube less

i miss when i clicked on a video and it loaded instantly and not in 10 seconds, i fucking hate the jeetification of youtube

>>107913572
i use youtube-local
>>

>i miss when i clicked on a video and it loaded instantly and not in 10 seconds,
yeah, it must be pretty effective at pushing people towards premium

shame with the economcis of it all there will *never* be that good user experience youtube of old again
>>
>>107913537
i have patreon fatigue
>>
>>107917574
yes, when sponsors, CRM, memberships and all that bullshit came in all the videos changed from the content to the style and delivery
everyone became a slave to the algo
>>
I watched a 2 hour interview yesterday and youtube recommends that I watch it again today.
>>
>>107913537
Yeah, it sucks, but I don't feel bad because there's nothing worth saving. before youtube there were books. I can't remember the last time I actually learned anything on youtube. I learn more talking to an LLM.
for that 1 in 100 niche interest you have... all the info is probably in a handful of videos which you can either transcribe or download with whatever half broken tool is available. As long as youtube is not DRMd like netflix or something we'll be fine, we can screen record at worst.

>open video
>black screen with spinning wheel and youtube logo
>click play
>nothing happens
>click youtube "play" icon on video
>nothing happens
>try skipping forward 5 seconds
>nothing happens
>click refresh
>video instantly starts playing for 0.1 seconds before page reloads
>black screen
at this point I just download everything and use VLC, their streaming player is intentional dogshit if you don't use Chrome
>>
>>107913537
What the fuck are you talking about? I can't find a single video to watch! What are you hooked on I have to know.
>>

I get the same issue but I think it's to punish you for blocking ads
