Are phones gonna be affected by the RAM shortages massively?

I don't think I can upgrade this year but I don't want to be fucked if I wait until next year
>>
>>107920570
They aren't yet because their supply chains take longer to work through compared to DRAM/SSDs and GPUs.

The RAMlocolypse will likely keep phones on 8-12GB of RAM for the next 3+ years instead of moving up to 16-20GB.
>>
The baker used a flame war instigating image again as usual to spread misinformation and to try and make Apple look bad. It never works though since the OP is uneducated and never had more than 2 flagships from different companies.

Google ai (Left), Samsung ai (middle) and Apple ai (Right).
>>
>>107920527
This is probably not a failure. Washington probably told them to consolidate to one AI to prevent in in-competition in the USA and to maximize resource/development of AI
>>
Ooo it's cumming
>>
>>107920669
Doubtful considering they're not the only two AIs lobbying in Washington.
>>
>>107920527
Open Ai is literally bankrupt you have no idea what you're talking about. OP is literally a misinformation poster that hates Apple and ruins the threads all the time posting iPhone images as the threadain image to start arguments and flamewars. Crazy how this OP has been doing this for months. 100% a insider.
>>
>>107920751
>Open Ai is literally bankrupt you have no idea what you're talking about
Are you the same faggot coping in the /pcbg/ pretending OpenAI won't just get more investor funding to keep going another year or two at least?
>>
>>107920625
Why are the icons for this shit always windmill/flower shit?
>>
Am I fucking nuts or is Thunderbird straight up not working? Shit takes ages, like an entire minute or so, to actually refresh, WITH NO NEW EMAILS! Only my secondary account works fine (still slow as shit, 10-15 secs but whatever)
Wtf...
>>
>>107920753
No schizo not everyone is the same person because you disagree with them. apple knows open ai is gonna flop. Apple had chatgpt integration with Siri. They went with Gemini because $1 billion a year is pennies compared to the cost for them to match the infrastructure and software. Also they don't want chatgpt integration with a company that might end up shutting down
>>
>>107920774
If OpenAI fails the entire world economy will collapse for a few years. So I'm betting that the larger market won't let that happen and will prop OpenAI up for at least a year or two.

That's not true at all and openai is not being used by anyone like that lol. ChatGPT was done when Deepseek was built for less than what OpenAi spent. Also OpenAi is losing over $200 million in operating costs without making profit. It's gonna go belly up and cause a Ai bubble to burst.

If nothing else, at least iPhone Pro Maxes have crazy good battery life. I haven't seen 10+ hours on a single charge since the Redmi Note 8 Pro days.
Our phone usage has massively increased since the late 2010's, and yet new features like high refreshrate, high brightness, high resolution screens have seemingly negated or even overpowered any improvements in battery tech.
My previous two phones, the Moto Edge 20 and Galaxy S23, couldn't even come close to the Note 8 Pro at it's peak performance in late-2019 and early-2020. The iPhone 16 Pro Max feels like I've finally returned home to my ol' Redmi.
Typing on iOS still kinda sucks though. Honestly most other issues are overblown.

Also typing got slightly better once I realized you can hold the period to get easy (yet unintuitive) access to the comma and question mark, among others.
It still fucking sucks compared to just holding a letter though...
Also, raise to wake is way too sensitive, and the notification menu is way too hard to pull down - you have to be REALLY deliberate with your downwards motion in either length or speed. You can't just casually flick it down, you need to either reaaaaallly pull it allll the way down, or flick it down REALLY fast.

At the very least the cashier at the local grocery store, a girl roughly my age maybe a bit younger, told me "oh once you've switched to iPhone you can't go back to Android trust me it's so much better" after she saw me struggling to remember if I need to hold or double tap the power button to open Apple Pay.

Poco F7fag reporting in again.
After unlocking I installed crdroid. I know the last thread I said I had a problem with having to sideload a keyboard but that was actually my fault.
Flashed two gapps versions, I thought the second was an addon, I guess not kek.
I reflashed from scratch and everything is fine now.
All the hardware works and stability wise I haven't gotten it to crash so far.
Anything you want me to test?
I will say the experience is significantly better than the pixel 9 pro xl that I used before this, likely because the soc in the f7 is somehow like twice as fast as the tenshit mediakek in the pixels.
I can finally mess around with winulator too.
Absolutely worth the ball ache of unlocking the bootloader.
Hardware wise the only thing that's missing is 90w charging I think.
>>
How do you guys do big file transfers on/off android. I'm talking a 50+ gig folder with thousands of items.
MTP sucks and always fails midway, syncthing works but is really fucking slow for whatever reason, it will sync in short bursts and it takes forever.
Adb needs a computer so its not an option for device to device transfers

not elegant but it works and is reliable as long as the type-C ports of both phones are sturdy and not loose or broken
I do this even for phone-to-PC transfers as sometimes using a cable is not convenient and FTP on my home network is much slower than USB 3.0 speeds (5Gbit), even considering a transfer both ways (2.5Gbit effective).
>>
>>107928369

It's more comparable to the ipad Pro 13", not the 11", which is $1300 for the 256GB version.
I paid $810 instead of $1300. Also the ipad pro has a 4:3 (2752 x 2064) aspect ratio which is fine for documents and web browsing, but will have black bars for 16:9 movies/TV/YouTube/etc. The S11 Ultra has a 16:10 (2960 x 1848) aspect ratio which is much more suited for 16:9 video content and will have minimal black bars in comparison.

>>107931019
It has microSD slot, and I have multiple T7 SSDs I can plug into it if I need.
I also have 60TB of NAS storage and multi-gigabit wifi at my house, so it really shouldn't be an issue to stream things from my NAS locally.

>>107930890
Use case will be watching youtube/movies/tv/anime/porn in bed, and also reading.

This is honesty the biggest difference.
For movies, the Samsung tablet, despite "only" being a 1.6" larger screen, has a 25-30% larger image due to the proper aspect ratio.
Just raw size dimensions, the ipad Pro 13 is 7.8" tall and 10.4" wide. The Tab S11 Ultra is 7.7" tall and 12.4" wide.
The only reason to get the ipad pro would be because you're already deep within the apple ecosystem, or you spend 90% of your time reading through PDFs or webpages.

My guy it's for web browsing, porn, movies and shit. Do you really think the Dimensity 9400+ is going to be a bad SoC for that use? And the sheer size of a 14.6" tablet means it has tons of room to dissipate any heat.

cant run my old MCPE vidya gaems due to a lack of 32 bit support but i do wonder, why is it taking so long for midrange SOCs to adopt ARMV9? they've been using the A78 for years now
>>
>>107935416
Just like you'd suspect, it's money.

ARMv9 has higher licensing costs, those royalties add up when you're making thousands of units, and on a midrange SoC for $200-300 devices, there just isn't as much margin to cover the increased costs when A78 DOES still perform quite well, and as you noted has legacy 32 bit support. Because of this unless a new SoC is released with some sort of 32-bit legacy support baked in and costs a similar amount to license, or is significantly cheaper/more efficient compared to A78, we'll likely continue to see A78 used for years to come.

I feel like we've long reached the point where most people just don't care for the highest tier performance anymore. it's good to see the boundaries being pushed and new innovative cooling methods, but I can't personally see myself caring about more performance on a phone unless something drastically changes in the software that requires a lot more horsepower.

I can somewhat understand that stuff for tablets, where you might conceivably need high performance more often and for extended periods of time.

>>
>>107936863
As long as chinese companeis keep pushing mobile game graphics' boundaries, more performance is always better. Ever since 2020-ish we've been at a point where game graphics caught up to phones' performance limits.
No mainstream non-gamer phone can run Genshin or ZZZ at max settings 120FPS and maintain that performance for more than 20 minutes. I don't play them, but I assume the same is true for WuWa and Endfield, and will be true for NTE, Azur Promilla, Ananta, etc. etc. etc.
Sure, all of these games are best played on PC, but the target audience is gacha gamers who have historically preferred playing on their phone in short 10-20 minute bursts on the toilet, on their train to work, on their lunch break, in bed before sleep, etc., because said target audience are generally east asian middle aged office workers who have <1h of free time per day, and it's mostly during commutes and lunch/smoke breaks.

Anyways my point is bigger performance is betterer, always. If not then flagships would have at least 10% lower sales than they do now, because the minority of mobile games that play the highest end games would just buy whatever is cheaper and can still run it maxxed out.

Crdroid is lineage with more customization.
Banking apps will always be faggots if your bootloader is unlocked. Actually root is the solution because you can pretty easily spoof play integrity etc with just a few modules.
Even my google wallet and tap to pay works with my rooted P7pro on lineage.
Modules are PIF, zygisk next, shamiko and tricky store.

You will use the mediakek and be happy goy.
I don't think qualcomm is necessarily needed for official lineage support, the exynos notes and pixels are supported after all.
You just need a mix of cheap or easily accessible phone, unlocked/unlockable bootloader and enough pajeets or slavs using it.
That's why a lot of the very recent Motorola's, despite being good and cheap, don't have any custom rom support. They're locked down to shit.
Of all the current mediakeks I would say the pooco X7 pro, M7 pro and the dimensity nothing phone are the most likely to get either official lineage or stable unofficial ports.

Everyday I thank Jesus I never have to buy a used smartphone or a Poco.
>>
>>107938610
You have some serious self-consciousness and image issues if buying used or owning a cheap phone terrifies you so much. It shows that you don't like your phone for the high end specs, good software, long term support, etc. but rather for how other people will perceive you if they see you using it out on the street, at work, at school, whatever.
Used phones allow you to get last year's flagship for at LEAST 25% off, if not half price.
Poco phones are incredibly robust because they're so simple. My mother is only now gonna get her Poco M3, that she's had since mid-2021, replaced by my old phone because I just upgraded. The Poco is fully functional, and the battery lasts multiple days for my mother, but it's just slow with modern bloatware apps and only 4GB RAM and an old budget processor.

be straight with me anons as someone who cares most about speed, display and battery, is there any reason to not buy oneplus?

i have read and watched plenty of reviews and comparisons and in the end i narrowed my choice to op 15 and s25 ultra and im leaning more towards op15 because of battery and slightly better ergonomics

i've read the artice posted in the thread and now i have doubts. if op15 is not a smart option anymore the obvious alternative would be oppo find x9 pro. to be honest i watched the comparsions and aside from telephoto camera which is better (and i dont really care about) everything else is the same or worse

i'm talking about A06 5G (A15 at release, 4 OS upgrades promised) and A07 5G (A16 at release, 6 OS upgrades promised). easy 3 OS version extensions with minimal compatibility issues for free.

There's an official crdroid and it works well.
When you're following the wiki for it just remember you need to flash all the boot vendor_boot etc not just the 2 they have listed.
To unlock the bootloader your account has to be at least a month old iirc, get (((permission))) from chinkmi, and you need to be signed in while you're doing it with a sim card when you're attempting to unlock.
Just use the mitools set of scripts. People say to time it but i just left it running. Even if it gives you an error try to unlock anyway, apparently nigmi does this on purpose.
After that you'll have to wait 72 hours and I think you get 14 days to unlock, not sure if you get a second attempt.
Once its unlocked you never have to deal with this bullshit again.

Brehs, please help me with opsec. I have a pixel 9 which is my primary phone, it has a sim installed. I use lineage os without gapps on it. This has almost no propreitary apps. I want this to be as clean as possible.

Now, for my secondary phone, it's a poorco f1, it has lineage os with microg and gmaps. The second phone has no sim, it will use hotspot from my primary phone while traveling. Is there a better way to do this? Any ideas tfellow schizomaxxers?

Go give them a hug anon. They clearly love you a lot. Are you a child or a student? Just curious.
>>
Hmm.. should i stay on Android with a One Plus 15 or should i swap to ios and get a IPhone 17 Max?
>>
>>107949015
If you are not using degoggled lineage os, I don't think its worth staying on Android.
>>
>>107949015
Both are good phones. Choose whichever you like
Though the iPhone has better camera

I have the A26 which gets 6 years of updates. I plan to run this thing for the whole of that 6 years, unless it breaks. Hopefully the phone will still be usable in the 6th year. I guess my advice is just get whichever phone suits your budget the best.
>>
>>107949122
I see people on reddit complaining about A16 being laggy right out of the box so I have to wonder if that phone can keep up with 6 years of updates.

Buddy you are just another consumer. If you actually cared you'd be off-grid and never carry any sort of technology more advanced than a wristwatch with you.

you got carbon fiber on the touchpad?

I've been reading this pajeet-stained ai-slopped mess of a thread for a few minutes and I still have no idea what the fuck they're talking about. With their retardedly broken english and weird jumps between sections, they take too many things for granted. Is it even the same method from >>107946705?
>>
>>107947215
I'm from the middle east, I can only get it via AliExpress, why the 13s tho?

Also what's wrong with an ecosystem?

>>107948737
Already did, my uncle rocks, was a great guy since I lost my dad

I'm a student
>>
>>107950198
>why the 13s tho?
slightly smaller, cheap, high-end snapdragon, big battery. its their best phone imo
>>
>>107950245
I like the bigger screen for YouTube and emulations
>>
>>107950198
There is no point buying into the oneplus ecosystem when they're being killed off as a company and basically being absorbed by their parent company, Oppo.

If you want an Android ecosystem that ACTUALLY exists and will continue to exist for years to come, samsung is the only real option.
>>
>>107950335
So an oppo eco system is outta the question huh?

Are the Samsung tablets even good tho? Emulations and writing equations and electrical engineering bullshit

>flagship chipset

Remind me, why do we hate slim and light again? It's only 0.3mm-0.5mm thicker than the S25 Edge and 17 Air respectively but is somehow lighter and comes with none of the drawbacks.
>>
>>107950349
doesn't have unlockable bootloader, oneplus 13s is better

>So an oppo eco system is outta the question huh?
Not out of the question, just more up in the air about longevity and how they'll behave going forward.

Oneplus has at this point devolved into a subbrand of Oppo where most of their products are rebadged Oppo devices. The OS's are now practically identical with just minor visual differences. And the "ecosystem" oneplus had is being integrated into the Oppo ecosystem. Technically, the Oppo ecosystem is larger than the Oneplus one, but the Oneplus one catered to a specific audience, the Oppo one caters to the masses of china/india/southeast asia.
>>
>>107950349
>listen stupid American this is a totally different Chinx brand than Huawei!
Falls for it every time.
>>
>>107950345
>>107950373
Also yes, the Samsung phones and tablets are excellent for emulation and writing equations and shit like that. They pioneered digital writing on phones/tablets.

What's a good start

Let's say s26 ultra, their ear buds are any good? What about laptops? , their stylus is tight and responsive?
>>
>>107950547
They have the best stylus in the game
Ear buds are probably fine (I have no idea, I don't use wireless audio).
Their laptops are a bit pricey, but not BAD, just not always the best value, but since it's windows, you can do MOST of the same shit with any windows laptop (Samsung has fairly deep integration with microsoft/windows in general, so you don't HAVE to buy one of their laptops).

They position themselves as the android ecosystem competitor to Apple. And they tend to cover most of the same areas, smart watches, phones, tablets, laptops, earbuds etc.

I have a Pixel 7a and the 128gb storage is starting to annoy me. I've been looking at phones with more storage, but they're all retardedly expensive for what they do, or have some other flaws. I'm on Google Fi.

I'm looking at the OnePlus 13r, there's one open box in excellent condition at best buy for 464 dollars. It has 256gb of storage, it's not really what I was hoping for, but it seems only flagships do 512gb now. The markup in cost going to a 13 vs 13r doesn't make sense either (650 USD).

Anyone ever get an open box phone from best buy?

And is the 13r a valid choice if I have a Pixel 7a?
>>
>>107950547
I don't know about their more expensive buds, but the Buds FE for 75 euro were a great purchase for me.
>>
Sounds great, Ill probably get their tablet and laptop soon, just hope the stylus isn't pricey, and About the laptop I fucking despise windows so I'll just install Linux on it

The camera is pretty good correct? Not for social media just for pictures for myself and family, the iphone has a good camera but everything else isn't good, moreso, the oneplus 13 camera was ass

I'll probably get the s26 ultra since the new turnip drivers dropped for the gen5
>>

>>107950721
75 euro isn't bad at all, how's the abc?
>>
>>107950735
>the abc
the ANC? it's pretty damn good, even more so because they have silicone earplug style tips which have "natural" sound isolation
I also have a Galaxy Watch 4, but I don't like smartwatches, which I only learned after buying it, but I found it second hand for 50 euro in summer of 2024 and used it for about a year. Decent thing, not for me, the band irritates my skin and the underside of the watch gets really nasty from my sweat and skin oil.
>>
>>107950757
Yes anc the iphone autocorrect is fucking retarded , good if so I'll probably get them, tyvm

Yeah I'm not even considering a smartwatch, I just don't see the appeal,
>>
>>107950767
>good if so I'll probably get them
If you can find them. They seem to have been superseded by the Buds3 FE, which are more expensive. Sound quality should be identical on both. I like their sound on both Samsung and non-Samsung devices, which is good, because I just switched from S23 to iPhone.

At least on the S11 Ultra tablet, the stylus is included in the box.

Wondering why you switched to iPhone if everything else you got is galaxy

>>107950802
Not even oneplus add stylus in the box, props to the Koreans
>>
>>107950836
I wanted a phone with great battery life, and also good performance and cameras. The iPhone 16 Pro Max seemed to fit.
I knew Galaxy Buds would work fine with it, and I don't like or use my Watch anyways.
What else do I have that's Samsung... my charger I guess? It supplies it's full 25W to my iPhone, I know because I have a watt meter cable, which is more than it ever supplied to my S23... it capped out around 22W.
I don't have a Galaxy Tab or Laptop. No tablet in fact, and as a desktop PC user my only laptop is some old crappy 2015 Acer running Linux Mint.
>>
>>107950879
I see, I assume you had the base galaxy s23 so the battery was ass?

Exactly. It was still better than my previous phone, but a decent bit in fact, I could 100% to 0% kill my previous Motorola Edge 20 in 4 hours just scrolling Reddit or something, while the S23 could realistically squeeze out like 6 hours on mobile data with battery saver on. Taking a train ride from home to my university dorm, about 5 hours total time investment, could drain the battery almost entirely as the phone heated up a TON in poor signal areas which is 90% of the train ride through the hills, fields, depressions and mountains.
With the base S23 being so small and the battery being so "barely passable", I started averaging just 2-3 hours of phone usage a day, while still charging it every 24-30 hours.
Now with my iPhone I just use my phone all the time and the battery percentage barely moves unless I use the camera or play a 3D game.
>>
>>107950963
Weird, my 16 pro max is a battery drainer, got 98% battery health

I'm personally very satisfied. This includes 1 hour of playing a relatively light 2D game, Trickcal Chibi Go. The last charge thing was me plugging it into my PC earlier for 2 minutes to refresh my sideloaded apps.

I don't hate plastic, plastic is fine if it's not microscopic pitted surfaces. I don't need some fabric that picks up dirt, oil, sweat and what ever other shit I'm working on when I need to use my phone.

I just had such an issue where I had to get rid of standing water in the footwell of my car; The awful smell of the rainwater + whatever else was stewing in that broth would not come out of the rubber grip tape on my phone after multiple disinfectants. I can't imagine pleather would fare any better.

Guys I need genuine help because this is driving me fucking insane.
Phone is pooco X7 pro.
Why the FUCK are my notifications either
a. not being shown on the lock screen or
b. Being cleared from the lock screen after unlocking but not clearing the notifications from the notification shade.
I tried fucking everything I can think of.
All battery restrictions off, happens with pin/fingerprint enabled and disabled, ambient display on/off, show notification and content on, raise to wake on.
I thought maybe I debloated too hard and there was a service I got rid off, I factory reset the entire phone. Didn't work.
I upgraded to hyperjeet os3, same FUCKING problem.
What the fuck am I missing? I have never gotten this mad at a phone before kek

I unlocked my F7 using termux on my pixel 7 pro
Sim card faggotry is correct though
A cheap prepaid sim might honestly be a good investment soon with how much bullshit is requiring a real number
