Seems like the death of this thing is that the people up top imagined everyone would want their own Sci-Fi Super AI like Cortana. However we've had the internet for decades so we already got the instant knowledge part down and since we lack a fleet of enemy warships to calculate railgun trajectories for, what the fuck does the average Joe need an AI for?
Compose boiler plate emails that you need to double check? Generate art that activates your uncanny valley senses? Like sure there are uses but not enough to make the number of people needed for self sustainment actually subscribe for money. All these AI companies are burning money and terrified at ending their free sample period because then they'll disappear in a puff of smoke.

it's something everybody needs, just don't know it yet, or rather, don't seem to understand what is best for them.

They're desperate for people to embrace Copilot because the long term business plan was to take losses until people became dependent on AI and then start charging for it. Same business model as pretty much every other big tech service (ride sharing, food delivery) - take losses while floating on investor money until everyone relies on you in their daily life, then up your prices and turn a profit. But I'm guessing the actual adoption rate (which Microsoft can obviously see) is so low that they'll never reach that point where they can charge big bucks for it and get away with it.

ChatGPT is surely seeing the same - they're still in the red but too few people are actually dependent on their product for them to ever be able to charge for it. >>107923443 is right, the use cases for your average layman are really just novelties, and if they actually charged what they needed to make a profit, people would just go back to writing their own emails.

Why would I use a copilot if I don't even know how to fly with my computer? I don't even know how it would work, I'm afraid it that if I try to make my computer fly, it would fly off by itself leaving me on my char because my seat is not attached to my computer. It's better to just let it stay on my desk.

I think this is why a lot of people don't use copilot, they don't know why they would use it.
>>
>>107923752

this is due to poor integration and sloppy base (APIs).

he says - use the product (our) where copilot is integrated, because, muh, you like shiny chrome AI, right?! ye ye, we like shiny chrome AI but the product/integration itself.

as an example - Copilot disembarked from telegram. the reason is simple - effortless vibe coded integration is mission impossible, plus maitenance, plus they may think it will be a promotion of a foreign product with copilot.

thus, the last resort - admin resource, listen to my command peons, we start using copilot (wherever it integrated) and be happy.

But it is... This has helped me and my friends in Mumbai excel beyond anything we could have ever done before. This is why AI is so important. It builds us all a bright future where we can all be connected. Even now I can write much better thanks to AI. It also has the benefit of assisting those with learning disabilities who did not have the means to attain this kind of knowledge without the cost and lottery of the immigration system.

Please, for the sake of the world around you... I humbly request you open your eyes and see past these differences. We are all human.

What Satya is doing is such an incredible service to his home country. He has not been greedy like some CEOs. He is giving from the goodness of his heart and spreading the benefits for the entire world, not just India.

The moment I have to pay chatGPT to tell me the technical name of the hardware I need to build my garden or whatever is the day I go out and buy a nice computer to run a local model. Actually, the moment they stop buying up all the ram and GPUs is also the day I do that too. It's useful but not subscription enslavement useful.

To some degree I'd agree. But I think the overarching issue is that AI and broadly LLMs as they are just aren't nearly as useful and revolutionary in their current state. Meanwhile large tech execs have been blowing up a bubble in anticipating without doing due market research on whether adoption would be good.
Or perhaps they did the market research and are just getting too far ahead of themselves.

Either way it's still very mediocre for average business and consumer usage. Doesn't help that they gave it to every dumb thirdie on the planet to flood the internet with low effort slop. That's just the tail wagging the dog though.
>>
>>107926437
>as they are just aren't nearly as useful and revolutionary in their current state
You are missing the forest for the trees and you are so so SO close.
That's the entire thing. AI is improving. [Current Thing] IS Current Thing but tomorrow is not today. Come back to this reply 6 months from now. See how things are so much better now (when you are reading this in June) than back in January? I told you. Just save this, screencap or bookmark archive or whatever and re-read this in June.

Then come back again to this reply in January 2027. January 2028. See how each year you came back to this, it's wild how you didn't anticipate such growth? Sure, nobody here was a fortune teller and now look at the state of things. It doesn't happen overnight, but I sure hope you didn't burn any bridges. I hope you embraced the tech, because people who left it behind are now regretting their choices, and now they are struggling to recapture a world that does not exist.

Thankfully, you chose correctly and you did not make the mistakes others made.
>>
>>107926437
Corpos are really trying to convince everyone that this is the future where in reality it cant do nearly as much as they seem to believe
I like to think they are simply out of touch boomers that jumped on the wagon without actually realizing what it was, because others did too, therefore it must be good.

you keep saying that but AI has yet to do anything actually meaningful, in fact, it only seemed to be causing more harm than good

yes, AI is able to better gen porn and even videos which is pretty cool but that's all entertainment, where is the value? ever since AI came out it hasn't provided any value beyond being a glorified Google Search Summarizer but people keep selling it something more than that

AI simply isn't ready yet, much like VR, it needs a lot more time to develop and we need MUCH better hardware before AI starts to do anything meaningufl

if i need a $25,000 GPU just to be able to reliably gen videos then there's something wrong with this picture, it's like they're forcing that huge IBM computer on us, telling us computers are the future, when we still need a few more years before they can shrink it down to the consumer level

And OP is 100% guaranteed to be an Apple or Google niggercattle using Google AI or Google AI since Apple AI is a fucking joke and they're using Google now too.

There is zero technical difference between Google AI and Copilot, it's purely marketing shills like OP.

>nobody other that the people passing the bags around gives a shit and it dies
There's even some desperate shills here just like back then, what the hell.
The only difference is that everyone wants to be the one guy who makes a massive advancement in AI and becomes the new OpenAI who can get 999 gorillions from the government whenever they ask, which caused this massive spike in datacenters that buy every computer part in the world and uses all the energy because SURELY it will have a return one day, and it's going to end the same way. Or rather, worse, because NFTs only had desperate shilling going for them instead of literal governments betting all they can on them succeeding.

>>
>>107927280
It does nothing for me. While I will concede it probably has some utility here and there for people, it is absolutely no-fucking-where near the level of capital spend the tech companies are betting on. They are so far out of band with this, it's crazy. What's happening here is they all saw it as the next big thing they wanted to be the first-mover on. So they went crazy with spending. But it's just not as useful as they believed, so now they're in a tough spot. The bubble will burst, but AI will stick around as a handy utility here and there. The retard AI-is-magic shills that infest these threads are too technically illiterate to see things clearly.
>>
>>107927312
Some level of spending would have been fine if it was more towards research purposes to develop something more intelligent, not just scaling up something that would never get to where it needs to go.

>>107927296
I don't really understand this desperate need people like you have for others to worship the same dumb shit you do. Your brain has been compromised by a very clever text generation device. It's so lifelike that it is literally defeating your brain's security mechanisms and you see intelligence and power where there really isn't. You don't have the brain horsepower to see a few steps further - that you are just being fooled.
>>
>>107927323
>if it was more towards research purposes to develop something more intelligent
But that doesn't happen in a quarter. It doesn't show results for your investors. You have to showcase something. You can't NOT showcase anything. "Where's the money gone towards, John?" You absolutely CANNOT just point to some nerdy numbers and stupid technical jargon. You will be sued so fucking fast for swindling their money. You deliver on your contracts. Welcome to the professional world.
>>
>>107927324
lmfao re-read the first letter of each line going down
>>
>>107927323
Right. This was a land rush because all the tech companies are very familiar with the first-mover effect and how powerful it is. Microsoft has bungled so many things, they REALLY didn't want to fuck it up this time. So they spent outrageously. And it's not paying off. Google was a bit more circumspect and built out in ways that complemented what they already have. OpenAI is just going to fold in a year or two because they're being run by a scam artist. Some of the better code tools will probably survive and get big. But these trillions of spend are going to evaporate.
