Switching to Gemini can pull the character back to their roots again. Some have complained that Gemini can constrain a character to their card regardless of character development in the story... So there's flaws with both, and alternating them helps cancel out both models flaws. If I had to pick one I will still pick Opus, simply because it's still more fun overall. Gemini 2.5 Pro I still use a lot when I want dark conflict, because hoo boy does it love extreme dark emotions. Gemini 3 is warmer so I like it for overall RP like Opus.
