>>107931216bootstrap sucks, use tailwind or something
>>107933507>AMA i guessdo you have experience? any tips?
>>107934124yes, my prior experience is just college internships at so-so companies doing similar embedded stuff. i have a good amount of SWE breadth but had a really hard time getting noticed by good companies, not even amazon would send me an OA after five years of applying. closest i got was being interviewed by TT for backend SWE in the fall, i passed their technical rounds then got cucked by headcount.the best advice I can honestly give is to use existing connections. my boss at the last internship left and became the VP at this place and that was my in. literally once you have that, there's no curveballs, no leetcode, no gatekeeping jeets. if you're a student that can't get internships, look for undergrad research opportunities, might be unpaid at first but the barrier to entry is low, and you get good experience.
I start working at Chick-fil-A on Thursday.
>>107932094>>107932136She's not wrong. Employers are looking for people who aren't desperate for work. Desperate people are shitty workers because they almost always use that initial job as a stepping stone to get a better job within the first week/month.

>>107943265i need to avoid doxxing myself, so i'll be a little hazy in parts.effectively built a 3-fold app which:>can manage short education courses>can combine activities, language, curricula into an interactive online course paired to abvoe management>analyse videos, texts, tasks, etc and generate collocations, grammar structures, vocabulary, etc.The generation is done locally, using baserow as a database manager to store findings. Everything is built into a static site which can be hosted on a usb drive and given to teachers in case of tech failure. There's also the ability to auto generate worksheets, registers, etc.The database has ripped all the compliance standards and synced them to induction docs, workflows, etc. I use a table to run UX investigations, try to map hwow many clicks away cerrtain pieces of information away.I'm trying to answer the questions:>how can i ensure courses use bleeding edge content>how can i map the gulf between learning systems/skills and applying them to realistic writing/speaking output>how can staff on courses get all the key info and report key findings in minimum clicksI started off making a language learning app, which I spent about 7 months on failing hard. Then I got a new job and just overpromised everything and have spent about 3 months working 16 hour days trying to stay relevant.
>>107943265>>107943397my workflow effectively is>marketing get hunger for a course>i 'learn' the subject and spit out marketing pages in a couple of days>I build a corpus of content and language connected to the area to build a course>marketing and me play pingpong in course development>when student numbers appear, i 'build' the course through a series of interactive lessons (teacher has control, i assume theres a projector/interactive whiteboard)>i start recruitment and build a training pipeline for teachers; plugging them in to the materials>i run inductions for all staff when they arrive on site to ensure quality and compliance>i religiously collect feedback and tweak systems. At all times I try to value the human edge and ensure that the tech only supports the human. We film massively and ensure that the site/marketing is all human focused and doesn't mention the tech side. We're larping as a huge company with about 10 staff.

>>107947930I sold air conditioners with a lower base but higher commission and now i sell phones with a high base and low commission. just applied for a job at my local college. im really not ready to go back to work, been unemployed for 7 months. ive been going to bed at like 8 am and waking up at 7 pm every night, my sleep schedule is so messed up. not sure how i could even get back to normal if i were to get the job. other than the sleep being shit i kind of dont mind it that much because i get to work on some projects that interest me and back when i worked i was just too exhausted to do anything once i got back home. working sucks. i dunno how the average person does it. it is just pure torturethanks for reading my blog
>>107969823Advice from someone who's been a neet longer than you (recently trying to fix that):If you have time then adjust your bedtime by 2 hours every other night. I find it easier to adjust it later than earlier (e.g. go to bed at 10am 10am 12pm 12pm 2pm 2pm), afternoon bedtimes can be rough because you naturally wake up when the sun goes down.If you don't have time, go full retard and stay awake until it's an acceptable time to sleep, you'll naturally sleep longer so you'll have to do it a few times. If you have absolutely no time, power through the day with no sleep and hope they chock it up to nerves. If you're lucky, get sick and sleep way earlier than you normally would because you're exhausted, coincidentally putting you at a normal time.
>>107969897thanks ill try that. i should theoretically have about a week or 2.were you able to completely fix it? if so how long did it take?
>>107969897i do the opposite. stay awake at all costs until 10pm. outdoor activities or whatever
>>107970030Fixing being a neet? Somewhat, it's a little tricky due the giant job gap so it's harder to find places who'd consider me. Obviously tech's no longer an option, they don't give a shit about old qualifications. I've been in general construction labour while I look for an apprenticeship and I would've already had one if I wasn't looking at electrical because over here you need qualifications before they'll even consider you for that one (nothing major but still takes a month or two of not working). I guess all you need to leave the neet lifestyle is the drive, something I thoroughly lacked until recently, everything else is up to employers giving you a chance.
>>107970096How big was your gap?
>>107970518More than 5 years.
>>107970568can you do technology related volunteer work or contract work or anything? personal projects that involve releasing and maintaining code that you can show? fill the gap with anything
>>107970588Technically yes, realistically no. I had been programming as a neet but it's irrelevant, just think about the resume.>X years ago: Qualification>nothing between then and nowup against dozens/hundreds of>same qualification, maybe better>fresh grad/recent work/experienced and looking downwards for workI can see the writing on the wall anyway, if you can't get into tech right now you don't have a future in it because junior positions are increasingly difficult to get.

I'm 32. I have no certs and not a lot of IT specific experience, but I spent 10 months as a tech for a school doing Active Directory, physical computer repair, imaging etc. I was actually really good at end user interaction. I had great rapport with the teachers, principal, and senior techs. I got passed over being hired over other temp techs because of certs and degrees. I've been a NEET for a year. Should i just buckle down and get certs or should I go get an IT associates degree? I fucking hate the rote memorization needed for CompTIA shit. My adhd ass can't sit still for the books. A friend of min works for a recruiting company and how it works is that they hook 7-10 people as candidates (which they are required to do contractually), then they interview by merit, best guys go first, most likely to get it. If the company prefer one of the first guys the rest of them just get ghosted, like you did.The bright side is that you don't have to do the interview now.The downside is that you probably weren't one of the people they expected to ever get the job anyway, you were there to meet their contractual quota.
