need advice on how to proceed

im upgrading components to an am4 pc.
the stock heatsink was super loud so i replaced it with a thermalright 140.
for some reason upon one random start up the fan from the heatsink doesnt turn on.
I didnt know that it didnt turn on because its very quiet normally.
i walk away from a minute and it goes from windows 11 to the Gigbyte Bios.
the cpu was 57c and now the NVME m.2 on the motherboard can not be found by the motherboard.
that nvme has windows on it.

i already let it cool off, turned everything off and on again and still the m.2 can not be found.
the thermalright just fry my ssd?

could you try moving it to another m.2 slot or removing it, booting, shutting down, then re-inserting it to see if it does anything? Or perhaps boot into ultimate boot cd and see if that sees the drive.

Hey /pcbg/ I likely have an issue I need your expertise in.
Today I turned on my PC (I'll post the specs down below) and its ethernet port wasn't working. I couldn't get it to connect to my modem at all. I changed the cable thinking it was that and nothing. I went on to the check the BIOS utility and I noticed that the MOBO was marking the 3.3V rail as outputting 4V. Not 3.4V, 4V.

Interestingly, though, aside from the ethernet issue, there were no problems on the PC. Everything ran fine, I even played a game completely fine.

First of all, should I be worried here? That's a huge disparity from expected to actual.
If so, what's likely failing here, the PSU or the mobo? Maybe something else?

Specs:
MOBO: ASUS TUF B450M
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
RAM: 4x 8GB (I can't remember the brand now)
GPU: Radeon 6600
PSU: EVGA 750W Gold

If you need more specifics or something let me know, any help or stuff would be appreciated.

very exciting to finally have a reason to use a pcie expansion slot. just buy a nic and carry on, it's almost certainly an isolated and unlucky failure of the port or networking chip, not some creeping doom destroying your system from the inside out

clean it, clean the dust, repaste the cpu, reseat the ram

Is there any difference between the pcie gens for ssds and loading games?

This meme is inaccurate, if they called it PTX it would actually be pretty fucking useful. They'd be more likely to do something like rename the GPU to Generative Processing Unit instead.

Radeon won in the end. 9070 XT still can be gotten for 650 USD even and 5070 ti is over a thousand now

Supply and demand, if nobody wants it then the price stays.
Dropping another $200 maybe people will consider.

What good, 1000w PSUs have side connectors besides the Corsair SHIFT models?

Looking for a good AM5 motherboard to be used for 24/7 PC homeserver operation. I need the following features:
- At least 2 PCIe x8 or x16 gen 4 or 5 ports working at full speed to CPU.
- At least 1-2 m.2 slots for SSDs
- At least 128 GB DDR5 RAM (ECC or non-ECC)

For the RAM I don't understand the concept of dual channel. I think it's usually advised to put DIMMs in half the slots and not put an uneven number of DIMMs. But what if I want to have 192 GB RAM, I would have to put 6*32 and populate all 6 slots for example. Will I get bad performance from that ?
