>>107968822anyone done an internal transfer? if so, how did you start the process? 2 months in my new role and want to shoot myself
there are layoffs coming in a few weeks and I feel really mixed on it. I don't have enough savings to retire early, especially in this economy, but leaving this industry would be really good for my mental health honestly. I used to love writing code and building software. Maybe I still do? Work stopped being about those things a long time ago.
>>107969299way too earlyfirst thing they check in an internal transfer is a reference from your current manager
>>107968822Are certs still a thing in $CURRENT_YEAR? If so, what are the good ones? Same old? a+/net+/sec+? Redhat? Cisco?
>>107969367nothing better for the mental health than exactly subsistence level income while immigrants and single mothers chill on welfare all day.
I really don't care about that unsubstantiated shit that other people may or not be doing. I want to work on something real and not performative theater or office politics.
I just want to make money and work as little as possible
>>107969705dont we all
man i remember thinking back in the summer that the economy is getting super retarded and that i should put all my money into gold, but then i thought even gold was too volatile and i was afraid something even more retarded would happen, so i instead bought a bunch of real material goods instead. im retarded lol could have doubled my money
>>107968850>Move to Japan>Take a massive paycut>Get paid in Yen (monopoly money)>Takeshi the idiot gets promoted and becomes your boss because he is Japanese

So I had the bright idea to make a folder with all of the API jsons my company uses along with .md files with explainers/relevant endpoints and then a master .md file explaining how the company operates and which endpoints/APIs are important. I then set up a cursorrules file pointing Cursor to these .md files. But it turned out to be kind of pointless. I was hoping giving Cursor all of this reference material would lead to me being able to treat it like an interface for various information/analyses related to my job. Like an assistant or manager. But it just...can't. At best it can do very simple calls and give me basic info that I could get at the press of a button in the actual web app. I'm sure I could improve on it, but pretty disapponting.

I quit my shitty job!
>>107972545Just got some Indian recruiter last week too. Why do they expect me to accept when they don't even send a message before?
I got a promotion recently and I've noticed it was already "active". I don't want the attention but when should I update my linkedin, email signatures, etc? I don't want to leave an AI post blah blah thanks to everyone blah blah. It hasn't been officially announced yet.
>>107968822>go visit my grandparents for the weekend>my grandad has several issues across four different devices>mostly pretty simple stuff, fixing a link in his favourites bar, finding and turning off certain options, and showing him how to open the drop down menu on his phone, rebooting Windows 10 Home on a laptop to free up space>actually had fun explaining things to him step by step as I goThis is how they get you, isn't it? You have fun helping a loved one deal with some basic tech issues, follow the siren song of satisfaction into the tech support industry, and end up spending the rest of your life trying to explain to red-faced screaming neanderthals that trying to use a laptop as a sandwich press voids the warranty.
I work in entry level IAM am i part of the cool kids club?also automating shit with IAG software as much as i can. it's kind of neat
>>107973336Depends on where you end up but yeah thats basically it. The most frustrating aspect is having to help people through the phone. I once spent an hour on the phone with a retarded boomer who didn’t understand how a password reset worked. That faggot contributed to 80% of my burnout in that one hour.
>>107973039Me too, me too
>>107973231>It hasn't been officially announced yet.By who?Hasn't your boss said congrats you got it yet?Or are you waiting for the fat cunt HR woman to put out an email a week later so she has an excuse for cake?
>>107973652well i mean yeah my boss said i got it, i signed the paper, but there's like no "official" statement from the team or anything. it's a little awkward to change my signature without that whole "hey he's been promoted" or even my linkedin. and honestly I don't even want the attention dude i just want the pay bump and title...fuck even when i signed the papers, HR made it sound like I was fresh new rather than promoted but that's just more on HR being disorganized i guess.

>>107973887yeah i guess that makes sense, it's a little awkward though without that official "he's been promoted!"
>>107974107You know what's more awkward? When your manager hands you a PIP and you point out that your job title in the PIP is wrong.>No, it's correct. The entire team's titles were realigned a few months back. Then the HR guy comes to the call with paperwork that has your old title.>Guess we have outdated information then. And then you ask your teammates if they've heard of the entire team's titles being swapped.>No, haven't heard of that.Pretty awkward to find out that your manager has changed your job title and apparently told absolutely no one about it. Not HR, not the people affected, no one.

>>107974660What the fuck is it with NOCs becoming glorified secretaries? I started out in NOC and it was actual network stuff. I moved to DevOps and the places I've been since then don't do that, they're just there if you need to escalate something to another team or report possible service disruption to customers.
>>107974668Is Korea still ran by a cult of radical feminists?
>>107974707Feminists don't run Korea. Samsung runs Korea.
>>107968822Can someone give me a light?I studied medicine because I liked biology, and biology itself sounded like financial suicide. I realized I don't have the mindset for medicine, because I place doubt before learning and am not comfortable working with partial information, also I feel the moral weight of causing damage while other doctors memorize blindly, recognize patterns, and if something goes unexpected or the patient gets fucked, it's no biggie just part of the figuring out process.I was a NEET for some years, only things that drove me were gooning and games, I kinda took to reading fantasy and got the crazy idea to make a jrpg and kept collecting ideas for that, took to learn to draw and I've become decently amateurish, enough to copy good enough.Thinking I could get boosted for technical knowledge I enrolled in a 2 year CS course, which I now realize focuses heavily on web dev and grunt work for systems engineering. Their teaching is basically showcasing a language's features and pretending we can put together an application without design knowledge. Most just take it to ChatGPT to pass, I passed the CSS and JS class but I can't put together a page for the life of me. I am learning at a glacial pace, but I've basically lagged behind two years at this point.I really don't see myself working web development. I don't see myself doing anything honestly. I am only wondering whether if it's worth it to have the skills and work on this shit, whether if it puts me closer to direct a game company, whether I have the mental qualities for this path, and if I can manage to get a job without certifications because I sure as fuck can't rely on institutions for skill acquisition, and I can't learn at the proposed pace.

Around 3 weeks ago, in a call with a senior-senior of our team, my manipulative colleague got dealt with, and assigned a completely seprate codebase and db.Initially he did did a whole dance of "b-but my hard work" (of overwriting my commits) and now he is at a stage where he stopped attending any non-manager issued calls. Every week, we had like 2-3 calls to share issues and kind of chill. He seemed "normal" during these. I'm feeling bad for him, but he was claiming a lot of my work and never acknowledged that I shared know-how with him. He framed him making me teach him as "oversight over code" which was kind of humiliating. He jad no business doing that. I was doing backend he was doing connectors to the agent (on the client side). I am having second thoughts. Maybe I was wrong.

You have an upcoming interview with (your name), so to "prepare" you click on the "resume" link of the HR software and plan to skim through. What would your first thought be if you were greeted with this fucking wall of text?
How normal is having 20% of the company as free floating engineers that just fix urgent bugs? Our CEO pumped and dumped the company and has gotten fired because he couldn’t raise capital. I’m enjoying how dysfunctional it all is as we adjust our pricing for the third time in the past couple months. Also how best to take advantage of incompetent management? I think I could work 10 hours a week and get away with it.

>>107985378Awful. The standard is there for a reason. Keep it simple. Also try to submit it to Workday. If it cant import 95% of it automatically, its not getting past ats.

Everyone is less efficient for no god damn reason. None of this is benefiting anyone but the fucking women in charge think it's amazing. It's so god damn stupid. How do you combat the product people backtracking on their shitty decisions constantly? Our rollouts usually go like this:1. Make a change2. Get one customer pushing back3. Urgent ticket comes though.
