So I had the bright idea to make a folder with all of the API jsons my company uses along with .md files with explainers/relevant endpoints and then a master .md file explaining how the company operates and which endpoints/APIs are important. I then set up a cursorrules file pointing Cursor to these .md files.

But it turned out to be kind of pointless. I was hoping giving Cursor all of this reference material would lead to me being able to treat it like an interface for various information/analyses related to my job. Like an assistant or manager. But it just...can't. At best it can do very simple calls and give me basic info that I could get at the press of a button in the actual web app. I'm sure I could improve on it, but pretty disapponting.

I studied medicine because I liked biology, and biology itself sounded like financial suicide. I realized I don't have the mindset for medicine, because I place doubt before learning and am not comfortable working with partial information, also I feel the moral weight of causing damage while other doctors memorize blindly, recognize patterns, and if something goes unexpected or the patient gets fucked, it's no biggie just part of the figuring out process.

I was a NEET for some years, only things that drove me were gooning and games, I kinda took to reading fantasy and got the crazy idea to make a jrpg and kept collecting ideas for that, took to learn to draw and I've become decently amateurish, enough to copy good enough.

Thinking I could get boosted for technical knowledge I enrolled in a 2 year CS course, which I now realize focuses heavily on web dev and grunt work for systems engineering. Their teaching is basically showcasing a language's features and pretending we can put together an application without design knowledge. Most just take it to ChatGPT to pass, I passed the CSS and JS class but I can't put together a page for the life of me. I am learning at a glacial pace, but I've basically lagged behind two years at this point.

I really don't see myself working web development. I don't see myself doing anything honestly. I am only wondering whether if it's worth it to have the skills and work on this shit, whether if it puts me closer to direct a game company, whether I have the mental qualities for this path, and if I can manage to get a job without certifications because I sure as fuck can't rely on institutions for skill acquisition, and I can't learn at the proposed pace.

For me it was getting into things like cyberpunk, shadowrun, digimon, old /i/ irc channels, and ghost in the shell as a kid. It got me into cybersecurity and light body modification. So tattoos, nfc/rfid implants, and bodybuilding. Actual self-actualization I guess. I can't see myself in any other field of work.

Around 3 weeks ago, in a call with a senior-senior of our team, my manipulative colleague got dealt with, and assigned a completely seprate codebase and db.

Initially he did did a whole dance of "b-but my hard work" (of overwriting my commits) and now he is at a stage where he stopped attending any non-manager issued calls. Every week, we had like 2-3 calls to share issues and kind of chill. He seemed "normal" during these.

I'm feeling bad for him, but he was claiming a lot of my work and never acknowledged that I shared know-how with him. He framed him making me teach him as "oversight over code" which was kind of humiliating. He jad no business doing that. I was doing backend he was doing connectors to the agent (on the client side). I am having second thoughts. Maybe I was wrong.

How do you combat the product people backtracking on their shitty decisions constantly? Our rollouts usually go like this:

1. Make a change
2. Get one customer pushing back
3. Urgent ticket comes though. Product people in a meltdown.
4 We either have to reverse the feature and live wit yet another feature flag forever or they move the complexity to us to make it an option in the settings to disable it.

Both of the options leave us devs FUCKED because we have to keep maintaining their indecision. I keep telling them about tech debt like this but nobody fucking listens or cares.
