Google Books is now useless. I used to be able to find books quickly by searching for unique random sentences in them. Now it just returns garbage.

It’s so useless that I just tried finding a book it already found for me a year ago using the same query, and this is what I got. Clicking “See all results” takes you to regular Google search and removes any quotation marks from the query, which is completely pointless.

Related to your thread, if you add "nigger" at the end of your normal searches, it removes AI from your query

No no word flags are probably the only thing holding back the clankers from completely subsuming the internet at this point.

And only because society at large is still not okay with the no no words

As soon as people stop caring, the ones in charge of AI garbage will go absolutely crazy

They don't want you reading books. It's as simple as that. If you think this is bad look at what's happened to book selling websites. Tons of books are now impossible to obtain because all of the listings are several thousand dollars for books that used to cost $2-$20 used. I'm not talking about rare 1st edition or hardbacks. I'm talking about shitty re-printings of paperback books that got 20+ editions.

I purchased a book for $15 around 2015 that was taken down everywhere. The copy I have was yanked down everywhere and now sells for $1k+ on ebay. Sometimes listed higher than that. It was not rare either it was printed in 2013 or so.

You can buy a re-edition with multiple chapters missing for $20 on amazon. The 2019 edition where an entire chapter about the Talmud was removed.

Even old common small books are gone. Just go and try to find a copy of the DSM-1 anywhere.

We're living through a modern book burning. The old lady at my local library said someone showed up last year and purchased everything that was going to be put up for sale at the yearly book sale where they sold off damaged and worn books to raise money to purchase new stock. She said they bought the whole lot in bulk. When she asked what they were going to do with them they told her they were going straight to the incinerator.

Zoomers and genalpha would probably be fucking shocked by how good Google was at finding the shit you were looking for in the late 2000s and maybe early 2010s.

It wasn't good.
A few white competent guys used the same simple querry and clicked the samae competent links so everyone was shuffled in the same good sources.
That's literally how google worked and still works to some extent.

What does it mean to be worse than useless? I've already stopped searching for things at this point.

Unironically I just use Brave and FuckFuckSuck (formerly known as DuckDuckGo), also Yandex sometimes.
It Just Werks™
