7th for DIY dac/amps.
>>107982500Nice to see this project again.
>>107982521>againYou remember me posting it?The AK4493 is starting to show its age (lack of features compared to newer DAC chips), it the sound quality and the Wire amp are as good as new.
the 6xx deal seems really tempting but then i remember I also need an amp for it and it becomes a $300 purchase, and I could just get some really good desktop speakers instead
>>107982602Yeah, I was blogposting about my DIY Sangaku around the same time. The original build is still being used by my old man, but the second one I built somehow managed to snap a filament in one of the NuTubes and it's now collecting dust until I feel like trying to replace that.I'm back to my DIY O2 for amp duties now.
I miss phones that actually gave a fuck about audio. I hate dongles and the last phone with reasonably powered amping was the moondrop. RIP LG
>>107982660>really good desktop speakers>$300 Lmao
>>107982716you can get>adam d3v>kali lp-unf>iloud micro>kanto ora/ora4for about $300
>>107982746iloud micros are $200, even.
>>107981877You keep linking this without providing a timestamp as if anyone is going to watch the entire thing
>>107982685Funny you say that, as I’m looking to build a Sangaku, but with better power supplies.>O2Here’s mine below an AMB Gamma2 (my previous DAC before I built the AK4493).
>>107983057I also built a WynPalmer amp with a Silent Switcher as a power supply, but I sold it a long time ago. I regret it now, as the Silent Switcher is an amazing g low noise tiny psu and they are no longer made.
Hi there, I'm going insane with how much interference my wireless headphones are getting. Will the FT1s be good for me? Current headphones I have been using are Razer's Blackshark v2 Pro, will they be just as comfortable? I keep trying IEMs but their brightness rapes my ears and make me go back to my main headphones...
>>107980055>You guys ever talk about the +1k usd headphonesYe>>107983089>Razer's Blackshark v2 Pro>Will the FT1s be good for me?They also have quite a bit of bass but less treble than those Razers. So you might perceive that as them lacking clarity. >I keep trying IEMs but their brightness rapes my ears and make me go back to my main headphones...You're probably just not getting a good seal.
>>107983057Yeah the Sangaku is a pretty cool novelty, does tube things to the sound (2nd harmonics) without the heat or power draw. Both of mine had a noticeable noise floor with sensitive headphones and IEMs but that should be fixable with an improved power supply for the tubes, I suspect the voltage reference zener on the B+ is the main culprit.Thinking of maybe doing a custom PCB for an RJM Sapphire 4 at some point, so the O2 can just be my travel unit. It's a full-fat build with both batteries and an ODAC, as well as some ADA4610-2s in the buffer that give it super low DC offset and idle power draw.>>107983072This also looks neat, will have to look into it.
>>107983198I’ll be using a maida regulator for it, possibly, and for the rest of the voltages go with the normal power supply but with upgraded ICs.
>>107983238Yeah, the +-18V lines really don't need much improving and the 12V line is only used for the relays. I did want to try replacing the LM317 for the filament supply with an LT1084/5/6 but never got around to testing that.Looking forward to seeing what you end up building.
>>107983305I’m foi g to use a simplified neurochrome Maida, so using a nice MOSFET and the LT3080.
>>107983020it's only 17 minutes, how retarded are you?
I need some help with buying a new pair of IEM headphones, if anyone wants to give me some advice. >Location (since pricing and availability may vary)Italy/ Central Europe>Budget200 to 300€>What exactly you're looking for (be as detailed as possible)Recently moved countries, and to a city, from a very quiet and isolated place. So, the open back headphones aren't as useful anymore. I'd like some decent IEM's instead of having another pair of over the ear headphones on my desk. Also for ease of transport. >Previous gear and your thoughts on itExternal DAC to O_2 objective mini amp with AKG K-712 pro, alternatively with 1MORE IEM's. Bought that setup 11 years ago. The AKG's are fine, but I think the bass is a bit weak. The 1MORE's are nice quality, but they don't fit in the ear so we'll, and tend to slide out because they are a bit heavy, but they don't work so well anymore because I've used them a lot. >what I'm looking forI listen to a lot of music, mostly metal, play the occasional video game, and chat with people. Some IEM's that hook over the ear would be great. I haven't used /g/ in almost 10 years, so I don't know what's on the market these days. Any advice would be appreciated.
