You time-travel back to 1984. What do you tell people about the state of computing in the future?
I'm a practical realist. I don't waste my time with hypothetical questions that can never happen.
>>107987153Atari, Commodore, TRS-80, Sinclair, and BBC are all dead ends. They're ok to learn from and play with but don't stick with them once you can afford IBM compatibles or a Macintosh.
>>107987153just invest in apple and let the rest play out.
>>107987153Who cares I would just get a job and buy houses and land and stock to prepare for each bubble, .com bubble, buy and sell, short aig in 08. Invest in raytheon before 9/11, invest in pharma before covid, collect assets and just get out of liquid fiat as they print it by the trillions and get rich doing nothing and contributing nothing. Living when the dollar was worth something and could actually buy things was absolute easy mode. I would go full on selfish boomer
>>107987153Invest in Apple. They make things for retards and the future is FUCKING FULL of retards.
>>107987153>invest in apple>invest in intel>invest in amd>invest in ati>invest in nvidia>invest in microsoft>invest in amazon>invest in google>invest in...
Apple had a period of shitification where they almost went bankrupt. In 1984, the stock about around ten cents. In late 1997, the price was also about ten cents. If you bought in 1984 and held on until today, you'd be wealthy (provided you bought enough shares back then) but those first two decades really wasn't a huge wealth creator.
>>107987153I find this guy's parents >>107987721 and inform them of the technological necessity of their doing buttstuff.
>>107989069Kek. FWIW, i thought Win3.1 was amazing. Came with a book explaining how to write different programs.
>>107987153Dude, if I ever went back in time, I’d be more interested in fucking Marty’s mom.
>>107987153Gatekeep the internet and PCs.
i would dedicate every waking moment of my life to making sure the idea of the internet can never be commercializedit would be for private internal business functions and kept extremely separate from personal, recreational functionsno online shopping, no advertisement, no bill paying, nothingeither youre XYZ company transferring internal data between physical locations or you are an average person talking on a p2p hosted forum
>>107989413I would be satisfied if we just never shared it with the rest of the world and primarily kept it out of the hands of third worlders above all
>>107988993this
>>107987721>t.
>>107989413And you will fail.I think more people should have tried harder back in the day, but realistically it's inevitable to reach it , the *best* you can hope for is to push it back a decade or two. The problem exists outside of the scope of the internet, it's at the human layer and you're not going to be able to easily absent that. It's only time before someone thinks: I can make money orfa that....>>107991074So, not an internet, an intranet. Fuck off back to /pol where such lack of thought belongs.
>>107987153>What do you tell peopleYou don't.You show them. You're only going back to 1984. You pull a phone out of your pocket you're not going to be burned for witchcraft....Use that to demonstrate the pace of advance, then use it to demonstrate how little control the hand computer affords the user compared to a laptop.Make sure they are very aware it's the average everyday joe on the street accepting it that made it possible.
>>107987153I'd get more people on BeOS.
