When does an 7800X3D or 9800X3D need an upgrade?

My 4690k does not need an upgrade
when it goes from 8 core CCDs to 12, it should be a drop-in replacement on current AM5 boards, else wait til AM6 but that's a long ways away + DDR6 is going to probably be expensive as fuck.
The upcoming next gen port of Skyrim will demand more so be sure to upgrade when that comes around.
