what went wrong?
>>107993710O3DE is actually good and still going.
>>107993710Godot is alright for 2D (except maybe for the Control nodes)
>>107993710Which one(s) justwerks on Linux because that's the future of gaming and game development.
>>107993710Godot is good, and will continue to get better and better over the coming decades. CryEngine is full of issues that won't be fixed, and will be discarded and eventually forgotten. What the fuck is O3DE?
>>107994599>What the fuck is O3DE?Amazon bought a CryEngine license to do anything they wanted with it. Then they created the engine lumberyard to be used in their game studios. The game studios floped. Then they open sourced the engine and renamed it to O3DE.It is becoming good. Will eventually kill Godot and possibly even Unity.
>>107994687Sounds cool. I'm rooting for Godot personally because I've been following its development, but we need the whole game engine situation to improve.
Redot is still getting updates somehow. I haven't checked back in a few months but I know they're planning on making an overlay lang to supercede gdscript, so I'm pretty excited about that.
>>107994749>an overlay lang to supercede gdscriptHopefully Lua or a fucking variant. >>107994687>Will eventually kill Godot and possibly even Unity. They'll kill themselves and O3DE will accidentally the situation.
Might have no choice but to run O3DE at this point because the new Unity runs like fucking ass on linux
>>107994687I love Godot because it's design allows for some solid program structure. I hope it continues to grow.
>>107994687So tl;dr it's a CryEngine fork, but open source and hopefully with better development tools? That's great
