Who is tired of digital bullshiznit and anal-log maxx with pen and paper? So comfy not having to update, backup, etc.
you didn't make a youtube video about it yet?
>>108007955I felt my penmanship was horrible, so I tried some calligraphy a while, write a page every day. But I got bored. I bought some chink fountain pens to get me in the mood to het back and try to be the fancy guy with a fountain pen in his breast pocket, but nah, I usually dress like a /g/ neckbeard autismo. I really should get back in the habit.
The thing is that the poopification of the net and the increasing diagnosis of adhdeeznuts pulled off the mask on the digital world as a whole. It revealed it as a superficial and temporary realm of clickbait and shills. People got neutered to just netflix and chill with no attention span, no capacity to keep to oneself, no sense of assthethicc permanence. I know I'm writing as a spaz, but that's really just a reflection of the nature of the digital world. Nobody would write shit like this with a pen and paper. The medium is the message, yet again.
>>108008157>Nobody would write shit like this with a pen and paperYou overestimate the writing abilities of most (US) college students these days.
>>108007955Let's see your cursive nigger
>>108007955i don’t think i ever stopped. still looking for a good fountain pen i can use forever
>>108008266I don't. I know it sucks beyond comprehension. Students are writing "cuz" instead of because on their tests. Yet, their written assignments are without errors. GPT and auto-correct are a net negative. I have long turned off autocorrect and autocomplete on my phones. I even often delete the calculator app just to force myself to do reasonable calculations mentally or on a piece of paper if needed. It's crazy but in some weird way those simple things provide joy. Just writing on a piece of paper something you would usually write down in an app makes a difference. The digital revolution and its derivatives have been a catastrophe for hetero erectus et al.
>>108007955I've been using pen and paper ever since I gave up on digitising note taking years ago, I know some people love apple notes and OneNote and everything else in between but you couldn't pay me to use themEspecially for study, and especially for just freeform thinking and planning, pen and paper is just betterThe only thing I keep digital is shit that I need to reference when I'm actually using a computer, like password hints, and links
>>108007955You don’t back up pen and paper because you can’t easilyNot because you don’t need to
>>108007955I like digital, but if I want to remember something, I write it down. Something about writing stuff with a pen makes me remember it better than typing it.
I don't "anal-log maxx" but I did fall for the digital minimalism and EDC "consoomer" memes.
>>108008440I used to leave every aid off, but now I just have highlight errors (idk if it's called that, I haven't checked settings in ages) on. If a word is underlined in red, I go back and rewrite it up to three times; If by the third attempt it still says it's wrong, I right click to correct or leave it as is, depending on how formal I'm trying to be
>>108007955Physical notebooks take up a lot of space. I had tons of them from college. I ended up throwing out most of them, but I've still got a box left. I want to start digitizing them, but I know its gonna be a pain the ass. Aside from space, there's also the security issue. You can't encrypt paper.
Maybe I'm old but I've always kept everything important in physical paper form. Passwords, documents, receipts etc. I have two notebooks and folders with everything copied and properly written down. One is stored in my safe at home. Second one is at the bank with the other important stuff I don't wanna risk getting destroyed in a house fire or something.
>>108009281Seconding this. Keep physical, hopefully multiple, copies of important things.
>>108007955I like writing in my notebook, but I have club thumb so I'll probably never find a pen(cil) that feels comfortable with my grip.t. Pilot Precise V5/Pentel Graphgear 1000
>>108007955Funny thing happened, I was using bitlocker with a 6 digit pin then one day it asks for my master password which I vaguely remember but not actually. Tried every combo I can think of and its not working. Fucking fuming. What's the point of digital shit? I wrote all my wallet codes down, just jot individual websites and now since then all passwords are lost
>>108008440I turned it off but correcting small errors would annoy me so I changed it back.
>>108009205Yes, space they do take, but that's fine. I started buying (haven't read them all yet) a lot of books, and having those right in my face is a lot better than just a PDF on some device. Yes they cost money and could get them for free, but "knowledge protects you, while money needs protection". The fact that I see the books everyday keeps reminding me of the ideas I've read in each of those books and the connections I've made between them. I also wanted to have them physically there so that I would be more tempted to read/disconnect. I also want to influence my kids and hopefully have them read those books too when they become older.
>>108007955I've bought a cheap drawing tablet and I do my notes as mind maps on my PC.I can cut and paste, move elements around and then hyperlink each node into its own page that can serve as a wiki type of entry or another mind map.
>>108007955me actually. thinking about getting a fountain pen and a nicer notebook now.
>>108007955>paper is blankFake ass poser. Bet you don't even know how to use it, you zoomer.
>>108011272For books, I agree. Physical is far superior. It's the only medium that I still collect physical copies of works. But for notebooks, I've switched over to digital. On top of privacy benefits, it's also nice to be able to search through all your notes more easily and to rearrange/add to them neatly. Saving space is just a plus.
>>108008440>I have long turned off autocorrect and autocomplete on my phones.Do you still have the spellchecker running to point out errors?
>>108007955I was thrilled when I found out you could still get ink ribbons for practically any typewriter ever made. I just assumed they were completely obsolete. I have one I got for my birthday ages ago and it's still fun to type up things on it.
>>108012422For technical documents with notes and blueprints things of this nature, sure, but I don't see the advantage over pencil and graph notebook in 90% of cases. I pretty much only use physical books and physical notebooks with pic related to index.I'd consider a sony digital paper or something, but only for technical documents. blueprints, wiring diagrams, mechanical diagrams, etc. things that benefit from zooming and denoting. it's a pretty narrow usecase.Idk, I haven't used one though so maybe I'm just missing out. I don't have 1000+ $ of play money to use on a good one though.
>>108008556>You don’t back up pen and paper because you can’t easilyi just take a picture with my phone of my notes. you didn't think before you posted, dummy>>108009205>You can't encrypt paper.you don't have a personal cipher? fucking zoomers i swear
>>108007955Its a shame I'm left handed and writing feels like I'm constantly pushing the pen uphill, as well as having to angle the page a stupid orientation so the side of my hand doesn’t look like I've dunked it in an ink well by the end of writing a page.
