I have never posted on /g/, and I'm fully ready to be told to fuck off. The question I'm about to ask is probably so common as to be either settled or a matter of fierce debate, but I am sick of this shit. Tell me what is THE web browser I should be using in the year of our Lord 2026.I've been hating Chrome for years but have recently been infected with this harmless(?) but infuriating and seemingly unfixable Yahoo redirect bug, and that's the final straw.I tried Microsoft Edging next because it was already there. I had to disable a bunch of retard / AI features, but it runs crisp and fast compared to Chrome. Unfortunately, it hates / neuters all my ad blockers (notably on Youtube), and has somehow caused Chrome to acquire a new error: clicking on any video yields "Content not available," followed by "Something went wrong. Refresh or try again later. $BEGIN_LINKLearn more$END_LINK," followed by the video actually working.I'm not asking for troubleshooting advice, I just want to know what browser I should use for every day, normie browsing, that is FAST, LEAN, ad-blocker friendly, and not plagued by proprietary AI-assisted bullshit.Brother PLEASE.

>>108009065brave obviously
>>108009065In most all cases: Firefox with addblock extensions (primarily uBlock Origin). Will be supported and works fine. There is a toggle to disable AI bullshit now. It just works.Common /g/ choice: Librewolf. Firefox but with less bullshit out the box (more privacy, no dumb AI features). Can also add extensions.Paranoid /g/ choice: Mulvad Browser. Supposedly more privacy optimized than Librewolf, no telemetry whatsoever. Limited to the built in extensions, good but nothing fancy.
>>108009106>pooblock origin in 2026>mullvad after the gothenburg raid>needless reddit spacingtheres no way this isnt a bot
>>108009086>>108009106Funny, I actually did use Firefox back in the days when I still had a tower, before I became a laptop slug, and Chrome felt lean and efficient when I eventually succumbed to it. Based on what the latter anon said, it seems like Librewolf would be best, but does modern Firefox actually offer any concrete advantages?
>>108009123your bait is bad and you should feel bad
>>108009123See, this is why I have (browser-based) trust issues. Who's telling the truth?!>>108009101and what about this guy?
>>108009065get the one from marmaduke if you're an autist, it's ungoogled. otherwise go with the normal one.thank me later >w<https://chromium.woolyss.com/
>>108009154I appreciate it senpai, but give it to me like I'm five: is this a complete, standalone replacement for Chrome, or some add-on / fix to make it better? I'm looking for a clean break with whatever the fuck is going on with my current situation. Obviously just a hard reinstall would probably work, but frankly I'm sick of Google's shit, so I'd only be inclined to use this Chromium if it were a reconstructed Chrome stripped of Google shennanigans.
>>108009134For a while Chrome really was more efficient, but those days are over. Performance is negligible now. Chrome has bloated and harvests your data like crazy. The anon above is shilling Chromium from a strange website. Chromium is ok, it's the upstream non-googled version of Chromium. But it's still not my preference.>does modern Firefox actually offer any concrete advantages?Firefox doesnt really have an advantage over Librewolf. Maybe it could get bug fixes slightly quicker? That's the only thing I can think of. If I were to restart, I'd use Librewolf too, but I already have all my bookmarks saved in Firefox and dont feel like exporting them.Note: the other day, I did see an anon here complaining about a couple telemetry signals Librewolf sends when you start it up. I don't think it's an issue, but he was definitely pissed off at it.
>non-googled version of ChromiumChrome*
>>108009206Thanks man, this is really helpful. As you can probably tell, I've been out of the game for a long time, but based on a super quick search of "telemetry signals," it seems like this is primarily a privacy concern?
>>108009234Yeah, telemetry is little packets of data being sent off somewhere. It's probably not a big deal in this case, I'm guessing theyre just anonymously counting how many people are using the software. But for the anon that brought it up, that was enough of a reason to prefer Mulvad Browser in his case.In general, Librewolf still has far less telemetry than the default Firefox, and I'm sure Firefox has less than Chrome. Also, theres a few different Firefox forks, the reason I mention Librewolf is it seems to be the most popular and well liked. Compared to something like GNU IceCat for instance. And no problem btw
>>108009065For Firefox based browsers I'd only run LibreWolf and Waterfox. For Chrome based; deGoogled Chrome, Thorium and maybe Brave for when the other two break things
Brave

Unironically Ladybird. It's not ready yet, but it was created by a /g/ user and they managed to get Cloudflare to sponsor them so it will eventually be able to pass Cloudflare verification so will be good enough to post on 4chan without a pass in the future. The actual browser UI is just a minimalist shell at the moment as the development efforts are on the engine but it and Servo will be independent browser tech outside of Google, Apple and Mo$illa.

>>108009086God I hate Firefox so fucking much because it memory leaks so fucking bad. I have 64gb of DDR4 ram and Firefox will expand to use all of it before maxing out CPU cycles and dragging the whole system to a crawl. The only reason I upgraded from my old system (with 32GB DDR3) is because of Firefox's memory leaks. Before the prices went insane I was looking at upgrading to a new system with maxed out DDR5 just to try and deal with Firefox.
>>108009101This. Brave should be your go-to option.

Just get Brave.Disable all the bloat.Don't run uBO or another ad block on top of the built in ad blocker bc it can cause issues.Autistics will reeee, but for someone not into tech tinkering, this is best.

OP here, thanks for all the suggestions. For now I'm trying Librewolf and so far it's working great. I've made a FILE with all your recommendations for future reference. Cheers bros

All browsers based on chromium sucks
>>108009065If you have a Yahoo redirect "bug," I can almost guarantee you have registry malware on your PC doing this. Likely you have several trojans and cryptominers as well. Backup all your personal files and do a fresh reinstall of Windows. Then use Firefox, get UBO extension, and for the love of god stop downloading garbage from shady sites. Use Ninite to download an installer.
>>108015246Kek, I've always loved this gif
is the brave stuff a meme / viral marketing? it's literally crypto mining scamware, it's simply unbelievable that the install gentoo crowd would have anything to do with it

For me ublock origin still works on youtube.librewolf: privacy preconfigured firefox with preinstalled ad-blocker. haven't tried it myself but people keep referencing it.Netsurf: going back to the old days of web browsers. using it's own basic browser engine. not usable on the modern web though. think it works on 4chan, at least browsing. Maybe not the captchas.ungoogled-chromium: if you want to suffer.

This computer could use a fresh install, but do you think I'll run into trouble since Win 10 isn't officially supported anymore? I'm afraid it'll force me to "upgrade" to 11.Also been exploring Librewolf and seeing how it does things. Everything's good so far except Google Maps runs janky as hell. In general but especially on Street View, it skips and lags by default.
