PC culture (if you can call it that) is too much about freedom. The goal is therefore to push people away and onto phones, as well as the eventual shift to thin clients and whatever else they can think of.

Windows hardly brings in any money to M$, and the amount is drastically lower when you exclude businesses from this. They just do the bare minimum, and this (among other things) means making easy for pajeets to maintain it. This is why it sucks.

No, making it "good" would require a lot more money than what they will get from it in return, besides, windows isn't even MS most important product right now

No matter how horrible modern Windows can get, everybody still uses it because they have no choice, 7 doesn't have drivers for modern hardware, more and more software purposely can't run on it anymore, and 10 will soon have the same problem. And Linux is not a good solution if you need to run Windows software, WINE is rarely good enough.
Moreover, 11 just always comes preinstalled, less than one person out of ten thousands knows what an OS is and how to install another... And among them, very few will do it because the software they need only runs on modern Windows.
In the end the percentage of customers that Microsoft are losing is ridiculously minuscule.
Also, here is the truth: all the "devs" who work on windows these days are cheap indians who lied on their resume and who actually can't write a single line of code, they ask copilot for everything, and copilot sucks.
It's sad, but Windows won't get better, it will keep getting even worse.

Users stopped being customers and started being the product. Windows is a service to collect your info and serve you ads. It's a model Google proved works.
