You could do what I did and put a lightweight distro on it. While I rarely use my laptop, it's nice to have a backup option and the simple act of reviving old hardware feeslgoodman.

I have a laptop I use for torrents and for samba so I can watch movies stored on it on my TV and I just leave it plugged in in the corner like a lil server.

I am currently revamping a thinkpad t60p as well I am probably gonna install freebsd on it as a fuck around.

Just gotta wait till I get paid (neetbux) so I can get screen and ribbon for screen as the screen is busted.

install arch or debian with encrypted root (use crypttab if systemd setup), don't use a DE, use a WM like Openbox or some other stacking wm and configure it properly. install nethack. install firefox with ubo. install gforth. install torbrowser-launcher if your repo has it or just fetch it manually. install keepassxc. install vim, don't overload with plugins. don't bother installing vscode, it will chug. install irssi (rip hexchat) or some other IRC client. blah blah blah. setup a little bar similar to what i3 has just so you can keep an eye on resource usage, you WILL want to do this as the emmc storage is asscheeks, you should never need to use swap.

if you have a better machine, use it, or save up to buy one. i mained an acer aspire one for a year or two, i can't remember exactly how long. beware overheating btw
