why dont we have trinary computers yet
>>108016256because voltage level logic works nicely with two values
>>108016256Because there's only two genders.
>>108016256We have had trinary computers. There's not really a great point to them.
the soviets experimented with this, apparently it yielded some interesting results, was more energy efficientunfortunately the soviet bureaucracy had an entrenched ideological bias against computing so we didnt see much come out of that, they were more interested in stuff like rocketry and nuclear physics (tokamak was pretty pog)
>>108019130this, it's literally old radical technology that got sidelined for non-technical reasons
>>108016256>why dont we have trinary computers yetSpeak for yourself. I'm using TriLinux right now.
>>108016256ternary you goddamn fucking boob
>>108019130Fake and gay
>>108016256it's being worked on, but the real reason is there's so much momentum behind 2 state transistors
>>108019209worthless post
>>108016256i do not understand quite is it trinary if you have 0 and 1 then read 00 11 01 10 and first number is + or -
>>108019406there are different forms of ternary logic, in the soviet example they used balanced ternary (-1 0 +1 instead of something like 0 1 2) but im not sure how this functions on the hardware level, sorryi think this is a pretty obscure topic but if youre interested in doing the research the computer was named Setun
