I like my solar stuff and little 500 watt wind turbines. I get about 5KW from it divided into three systems that deliver about 1.5KW each and each powers a seperately fused and isolated wiring system based on car cigarette lighter sockets. It does led lighting, screens and my low power lan computers which are built around SFF PCs with 180 watt PSU running win 10 with 1030 cards as well as USB chargers, fans, lighting backup for my well pump, battery chargers for tools and drones laptop chargers. It's when you get into anything that involves heating water that you need an oil fired boiler.

It's defnitely useful and cool and he's wrong. However you need the space to do it in and bolting shit to roofs is incredibly stupid. I have a 10KW generator and a oil fired boiler so I'm not some eco warrior spastic.

You missed the point, which was that restrictions against tools are less effective than embargoes against fuels and other ongoing demands.
After you have a car, it doesn't matter where it was made, you have it. Same with solar panels.
After you have fuel it does matter where it was made, because very soon you will need more
