I think Youtube is a cool website but I don't like that it stalks you by putting the same 5-10 videos in the sidebar and forcing you to click "do not recommend" every day.

Enhancer For Youtube

>lock resolution to maximum
>remove unrelated and already watched recommended videos
>only show channels you have subbed to

Problem solved.

BlockTube lets you block specific videos on your side and has an option to also hit the "do not recommend" button automatically when you block a video. Sometimes YouTube messes with the interface, in their usual annoying A/B testing, causing the extension to bug out, but for the most part it works fine.

There's also another extension called "Nah - Not Interested" which speeds up the "do not recommend video/channel" option by replacing the buttons with icons that you can click directly (without having to click the "Not Interested" button).

I'm a recovering YouTube addict. I still have it on in the background constantly, it's just not nearly as interesting anymore.
>>
Yeah the not interested and don't recommend channel literally don't do anything anymore. I actually think this is incompetence rather than malice because due to being an SPA if you click on a new video the ones you clicked away from the old video will pop back up but still showing the undo button lmao.
>>
what i love most on websites is when this happens
>see related videos on side
>click something, but then see an interesting looking vid last second
>go back
>somehow every single other video remains, but the one you want is gone
>>
>>108017513
>I think
We don't do that in here buddy
>>
>>108017513
FreshRSS + docker stack that is YTDLP pipe with an nginx that serves the videos locally.
What seems to be the problem?
>>
How do I download from youtube in 1080p? I don't want to pay some webdev nigger (y2mate) to steal the videos and let me download them. The extensions also ask for my cash. What the fuck. I want to download all the stuff before it's too late.
>>
I think Youtube is a stupid website.

Look into yt-dlp. Don't get intimidated by the fact that it's CLI, it's easy to install and use, you even find tutorials for setting it up on YouTube itself. You could also use the GUI version, but that one might not tell you if you're missing some components that need to be installed separately.

Alternatively, just use a different YouTube downloading site. Most of them stop working and/or turn to malware ridden shit eventually so you might need to switch. I believe the last one I used was https://y2meta.is/, it also lets you download just the mp3 file and pick the quality. I think it works for 1080p as well.

Of course, there are other options like IDM and Jdownloader, but the first one isn't free so it requires cracking every once in a while, while the second can be non-functional at times when it comes to YouTube. It also installs adware unless you use the proper installer on their forum instead of the site one.

Thank you, brother. When I tried yt-dlp half a year back, I got "403 Forbidden error" on every format and couldn't figure out a solution. I will try again, after I update it. If not I will try the IDM and Jdwonaloder.

At least one of these filters is causing videos to triple reload on hard page loads and SPA loads.

google "news" is like this too. it's clearly anti-trump and puts all the ragebait right in the middle of the page load. clicking "show fewer" does literally nothing. no short or long term effect whatsoever. the idea that you can "curate" your news feed is kinda cringe anyway. it's the fucking news. it's just promoting the least interesting, most profitable stories that generate the most clicks first and that is often not what i want to see.

google needs to be put down for turning the entire internet into a completely negative, disingenuous experience.

I just created several channels under one email address, I switch between them depending on what I want to watch.
my main channel is for watching Ukraine war information, and some other military related stuff.

the other channels are for shit I only want to watch once but know that youtube will inundate me with garbage if I do.

never watch any simpson, rick and morty, or family guy clips EVER!

at one point I made the mistake of watching those weird "current movie but made in some other decade" AI clips. they were interesting for a while but took me a couple days of telling youtube not to recommend those channels ever again.

other channels are purely for commenting on videos that might engender butthurt responses.
>>
>>108021069
ytdlp-interface is a great front end for yt-dlp. it automates a lot of stuff, will update itself, yt-dlp, and ffmpeg, and downloads play lists.

>want to watch once but know that youtube will inundate me with garbage if I do
you can use private tab for that
>>
>>108024606
You can just delete the videos from your history and search and YouTube should stop recommending stuff based on them.
>>
>>108024650
>>108024703
faster to switch channels, and I want to keep my watch history.
>>
>>108017513
I just bookmarked the subscriptions page and never look at recommendations.
>>
>>108024623
Thanks! I've only ever tried the one by
kannagi0303 called yt-dlp-gui and it didn't work very well compared to just the CLI. I only just noticed it hasn't been updated in several years, maybe that's what gave me issues with it.
>>
>>108024808
the only problems I have with it are when youtube changes something, then updating yt-dlp usually fixes it.
