this is least irritating forum to browse that is still populated 4chan is sub-excrement level, superficial, and can only stay on-topic barely half the timereddit is boring, astroturfed, and a glorified extension of the first page of google, 20% of the interesting posts are just deleted or gonethe rest of the popular social media is, as we all know, not even worth mentioning
>>108073542this is what i mean, this place is boring as shit and on the same level as a family guy compilation comment section. not even compelling or creative in its snarkiness
>>108073515I went back to slashdot and it turns out its a liberal echo chamber that supported killing charlie kirk
>>1080735154chan, idk lol
>>108073609That started to happen when they got rid of anonymous cowards and sign ups without mod approval.
>>108073515We still have plenty of reddit tourists who have been thoroughly castrated
>>108073515So, go on then.
>>108073515why are you asking here, then, retard? because you're the uninteresting parasite
>>108073609>killing zionist traitors is badt. brainwashed by Epstein poltard
>>108073515Dang does a good job moderating, even if I think he makes shit choices sometimes.>>108073754Where are these mythical reddit tourist, retard-san?
>>108073609>that supported killing charlie kirkIt was a mercy. The poor guy was living his life like a dog on a leash, getting his chain yanked every time he tried to stray off the path to sniff a flower. The man was halfway between a naked partisan propagandist and a tshirt salesman.
>>108073515actually have to make new ones, the current web has been destroyed by the botswarms.
>>108073515irc and discord
>>108073515Hacker News is just another reddit now.4chan is bad, but it's still better than all alternatives. The worst part about it is the people who just troll and become antagonistic for the sake of it. This has always been a thing, but it really exploded in 2017 and the site has never been the same since. It's unfortunate and /g/ is definitely one of the boards that suffered the most because of that.
>>108073515Orange reddit is useful for staying aware of industry trends (if you can see through all of the "I did X but in Rust!" and "I did X but with AI" slop). Other than that it's full of pozzed retards.
I doubt there are any AutoAdmit guys posting here, but who can I ask for an invite? I'm a eurofag, and my .edu.au address isn’t a standard .edu, so I can't register there.I've been lurking for about a year and a half and I've been yearning to post for a quite while.
>>108073515Jeets trying to seek you shit and jews trying to sell you shitand that faggot with the pelican on the bycicle Amazing! Really excited to try this out. Check out my blog below.
Anyone remember those old conspiracy forums that peaked in the early 2010s like Godlike productions? There were a couple other ones I can't remember
>>108076126Oh yeah, and how about chimpout or niggermania? kek there were still some novel forums around back then
>>108073515ycombinator is where you get abducted to be sacrificed on the island by elites. what a clown website. reddit is somehow worse but every website is trash compared to here. geniuses write here. ycombinator is full of indians and faggots from california or their botnets.
>>108073609>>108073746I thought I was the only one still browsing that. I miss the late 90s-early 2000s in open source, tech and science.
>>108073515>4chan is sub-excrement level, superficial, and can only stay on-topic barely half the timeYet here you are, curious
>>108073515RSS feeds, most tech sites are the same. Only difference is when the posts circulate to the site. I am under the impression most people who know what they are talking about rarely post these days unless its for promotional purposes. I have found most niche programming languages tend to have pretty good communities.
>>108073552It's not snarkiness. Touch grass is the only answer that makes sense when someone gets overly autistic on which echochamber to pick for his para social interactions. There is no secret redpilled forum on the internet, most of them are just reddit with extra steps. And even if it did exist you wouldn't find any greater purpose there.Regarding 4chan, the best way to improve this board would be to get rid of whiny faggots like you, so i really hope you find what you are looking for.
I just want to take this opportunity to say fuck FAANG and the damage they have done to the internet.
>>108077108I too have been there and left. The Reg is another drivel site best viewed from afar. The rot is everywhere
4chan is nowhere even close to as annoying as hackernewsthe people on hackernews are legitimately like 95 IQ larping as geniuses. theyre slightly smarter than redditors so it isnt just immediately dismissable as pure retardation, which is incredibly tedious and annoying.a lot of the people there are indians which explains how alien and retarded some of the posts are.
>>108073515The internet is dead, turn off your computer and your phone and simply don't turn them back on; there's nothing worthwhile left because technology has been made into a propaganda delivery machine
>>108074508hi mossad :D
>>108077371>The Reg is another drivel site best viewed from afar.it's fucking british reddit these days.
>>108073609Internet got flooded by reddit commies. /g/ has plenty of the commies here as well, which I think are mainly Euro niggers
I'm genx so I grew up on BBS (fidonet) then Compuserve, then usenet, then slashdot, then sadly HN and reddit appeared. Once hn / reddit appeared things really started to collapse. The most tragic thing was the arrival of millenials into tech. The late 80s / early 90s had a real cypherpunk, decentralize everything philosophy. Everyone was into p2p encryption and against centralized services. Sadly when the masses showed up it killed all that.. now modern millenials all love privacy invasion tracking and see nothing wrong with it. Indians make the problem exponentially worse. Installing the internet in slums was a very very bad idea, in retrospect it should've remained hard to use, expensive, and inaccessible.
I grew up on early 2000s era slashdot, hack-a-day, hardforum, overclock, and probably a few other sites. It was a way different time.I haven't even looked to see if any old forums are still around or not ruined, but slashdot is just the worst libtard echochamber now. I don't even care about politics, but its so palpable that its grating.Even /g/ was way better in the mid/late 2000s. I miss working on different /g/ projects. It's just not the same anymore.I'd kill for a good hardware modding forum, but those are hard to find, let alone a hardware review that isnt slop at this point. It's like summer happened for the internet sometime in the 2010s and it hasn't stopped since.
>>108078063It is full of semi adequate programmers that believe they can pass as an expert by spending 2 minutes on Google. When you point out that they are wrong, such as failing basic laws of physics, they become even more hysterical.4chan is far from ideal but the real problem is that the rest is even worse.
>>108073609>>108074508>>108074562>>108078116Keep /pol/ on /pol/. See this is exactly what OP is talking about. You all can't go without shitflinging over politics for 5 seconds.
>>108078481>but the real problem is that the rest is even worse.yeah.
>>108078496Hacker News is full of TDS. You don't think that's political because their political posts align with your own views. Someone can submit a story about Nintendo emulators and it will end up with a deep reply chain about how evil Trump is because tariffs on AliExpress 200,000-in-1 emulator boxes make them cost $25 instead of $20. It's amazing what topics they can find a way to connect to Trump and then have a circle jerk over how he's the End of Our Democracy.
>where the fuck do you go>this is the least irritating forum>reddit is boring>4chan is sub-excrement>Hacker News is full of 95 IQ larpers>the internet is dead>turn off your computerWow /g/, really impressive. This thread is a masterclass in:>nostalgia jerk>tech superiority complex>performative political outrage>ethnic scapegoating>keyboard self-flagellationCongratulations, everyone. You managed to spend three hours collectively:1. Complaining about sites no one asked about.2. Insisting you are above everyone else.3. Acting like your childhood internet experience grants moral and technical authority.4. Demonstrating that the "best board" is indistinguishable from the ones you hate.Every post proves the same thing: the only thing worse than Hacker News, Reddit, or Slashdot is a bunch of self-proclaimed geniuses loudly proclaiming how dead, ruined, and inferior everything is while still posting here. You’re all nostalgic, angry, self-important, and wrong. And yet, here we are.
>>108078883the place is 1000% political. I was banned from HN during scamdemic when I posted that advising people to take never ending booster shots was going to have adverse health effects. I said it snarkily, but not much more. dang didn't like it and banned me. refuse to make another account but still lurk sometimes....
>>108073515The internet no longer exists. There is nowhere left to go, these places are the last vestiges. What was once a great ocean, is now an evaporating puddle.
>>108078333The Verge was the turning point for me. Before that site appeared, tech news tried to be primarily about the tech itself but The Verge made everything into a political story first, with the tech itself taking a backseat. While I doubt that site is the primary cause of the massive tone change in tech discussions, it was a sort of canary in the coal mine for what was to come. Now we have the tech world so deeply sunk into the political mire that software licenses include requirements to support particular social movements.
OP the answer is real lifeanything with low barrier to entry will always be the slop trough because the average human is retarded you need to seek out connection with smart people in real life unfortunately
everyone sucks, everything is terrible, there's no fixing it ever. that's what it do yugi.
>>108073515>hurrdurr4chan is the best. Go fuck yourself, faggot.
>>108073609>slashdotTurned to a pile of shit when CowboyNeal (or was it CdrTaco?) figured out they could astroturf topics and generally get paid to front page stuff.>this was years ago, maybe early 2000s?>I vividly recall one of the senior mods at slashdot having a hardon for minecraft and pimping the game all the timet. has a 5-digit uid on slashdot and hasn't visited the site in a decade
It's still more than possible to make a website that filter 90% of low-quality posters, and you do that by simply denying mobile access.Yet no website seems interested.
HN is pure cancer. It is not a discussion forum. I think it is a psychological experiment. Their autistic mods do a lot of sneaky shit behind the scenes to "curate" the site. Your account is assigned a weighting factor and once you say something they don't like (or some seething Silicon Valley goo gobbler emails them to complain), they secretly penalize your account. No warning. You notice new comments fall to the bottom of the thread like a rock, below the grey jeet spam posts, even after having been upvoted. Your flag and vouch buttons stop working. (Better not vouch for too much wrongthink, anon.) Like a shadow ban where your buttons do nothing or have a lesser effect. There are a lot of bots (or just one tranny wrangling two or three accounts) used to fiddle with voting and flagging there too. I don't think this is condoned by the site but their software sucks and they are too stupid to notice.I would have ~ 400k karma of positive contributions by now if I hadn't blown through like 50 accounts over the years lol. Once you are deemed an undesirable (it doesn't take much) it's best to cut your losses and start over.
