I might, but I largely see no point. I could already hook-up a spare laptop or my old server, gaming pc to the TV instead. I would consider it if it has a snappy, easy to use UI which allows it to become a good media box as well. I hate shit like a Roku or Firestick. Don't want to buy an aging Nvidia shield or one of the cheap Chinese media sticks. The only consoles I really consider are Nintendo for exclusives anyway, as the only multiplayer game I'd play on console is something like Smash or Mario Party anyway. If it's highly moddable or easy to take apart and add stuff - I may consider it just to support Valve. Their hardware has been good. Their customer support and warranty stuff has been good. I would turn it into an emulation box. If they can hit a niche space where it also works as a good media streaming box without the hassle of needing a mouse and keyboard to do everything - then I would consider it. It doesn't really fill a niche I need in my life right now anyway. I never watch TV on a couch as is anymore, and I haven't in 10+ years.
I have a better computer and no use for this, if they made a tablet with a detachable keyboard with reasonable performance then I would buy it.The main problem with that is that Linux's touch support is bad at best and abysmal as standard.

I'm definitely interested, and depending on pricing I'll probably get one. I want Valve to succeed with a mainstream Linux computer. I haven't daily driven Linux in over 5 years, but Windows is making the idea of switching back more appealing by the day. All of what I do on my computer is either web based or gaming. If Proton really does effectively solve gaming on Linux I'll switch my primary desktop over, but I want to test it on the Steam machine, as I asusme that will give the best impression.Also depending on pricing I might order some for work. Ironically we would be putting Windows on them, but as long as the hardware turns out to be reliable, and if they're priced reasonably, I'd be happy to try these out for a hardware refresh over the Optiplex/Dell Pro PCs that we normally buy.
