I have boxes of HDDs as spares and stacks of win 7 era laptops, GPUs DDR3/4 etc as well. I'm good for decades. Stuff is defnitely drying up fast though. Most of my use is on XP/7/10 though via 5 machines and two NAS. To give one example, the last Nvidia GPU support you can get working on XP is a 970/980 so it makes sense to have that on a diual booinng XP/7 machine but it will run anything from that era, which spans a LONG time and most of the best software and games ever made. Win 10 takes you up to now. I simply do not care for cloud centric computing or online activation or software as a service. Consider this, if your LAN is offline wired and airgapped, you don;t need security, you don;t need logons and you don't need updates, just stored images of clean optimal installs. Physcial media has no parts or electical cost.Go offline. Freedom.
